so does it mean that we can no longer call today or tomorrow for the decision?? since it hasnt been mailed out yet?

nooo idea. not to be too obsessive (ok ya obviously that’s too far gone) but if you read the thread from last year, it looks like some people at first called and they were like, “we are not releasing decisions today” and then other people called and it went through. so i think it could still be today?

I called at 9. I spoke to a guy who said that decisions were not mailed yet and we would not be able to get them via phone today. So disappointing! I was nervous all weekend for no reason :(

It sounds like they are releasing them at the END of this week.

That reminds me of that Office Space quote:

“Studies have statistically shown that there’s less chance of an incident if you do it at the end of the week.”

what it felt like he meant was that it would be at some point later in the week, not specifically towards the end of the week.

I just called as well. Same answer. I’m pretty annoyed because I was told that we could call today and, further, that we’d receive our letters by the 10th. Now it looks like neither is a possibility. :(

@anthro4387

Did you ask them why they might have told you that before and why that is different information? Just curious :)

I explained that I had a deposit due on the 15th, just like in the email. The lady maintained that we would have our decisions by mid-May, but didn’t give a specific date. So I don’t know. Should I email admissions again with the message history and ask why I couldn’t get an answer today?

Maybe, it would be nice/helpful to know. (get a consistent answer) I also have a deposit due soon, so I feel for you anthro4387.

That’s frustrating. Why would they originally email someone telling us we would receive decisions by the 10th only to change it later? Ugghghgh I really want to know

I sent an email this morning asking when we could call for decisions and all I got was “thanks for applying to brown decisions will be mailed this week” I really need a decision from them soon

Sooooooo

Just checked my status on that brown site

Saw this message in the Financial Aid–>Undergraduate–>Messages section:

Message Date Posted
Your eligibility is based on information you provided that more than one household member will be attending college as an undergraduate student during the academic year. Because this factor has a significant impact on your eligibility, please contact our office if your sibling(s) college enrollment plans change. Verification of your sibling’s enrollment will be required in early fall. Please note, in future years your financial aid eligibility/award will be reduced based on any decrease in the number of household members enrolled in an undergraduate degree granting program.

May 07, 2012 <------ TODAY

I also got a message on May 1st: This notification is a result of a detailed review of your and your family’s federal tax returns and/or total assets.

Does everyone have this? To me, this sounds like good news…

I have this message as well…my sister is going to be going to college in the fall.

It sounds like good news, but I think the only way we can verify is if someone else who has applied for financial aid and has a sibling in college doesn’t have it.

Well, there were two notifications: The one on May 1st, and the one on May 7th. Everyone applying for financial aid may have gotten the May 1st one; only college sibs would have the may 7th one.

I didn’t get the 1st message.

Well, the May 1st one was “This notification is a result of a detailed review of your and your family’s federal tax returns and/or total assets.” So I guess the review they did of your financial application was simply not detailed…just a general overview

(joking)

Haha, yeah I’m not sure why only certain people would get that if we both got the second message…hopefully this is good though.

Hey can you guys activate your myAccount then? If you can activate it that definitely means a lot.

Yeah I tried, it doesn’t let me activate myAccount. I get the message:

"[Full Name] is not eligible for this service."
