So I’m guessing we’re receiving our decisions at the end of this week… fri/sat or even monday.

Anyway, I was just wondering what the rest of you guys’ hooks were? I’m guessing we all have similar GPAs, similar SATs, and great recommendations… but the things that separate us are probably our interests.

In conclusion, what’s so special about you/how do you think you’ll contribute?

As for me… I’m really big into journalism/newspaper, I did quite a couple things at my current school: wrote an expose on the internet speed (they’re gonna increase it by 5-6 times at the end of the summer), broke a story about school adminstrators using a particular porn site that involves hookers and a van… (if you about what i’m talking about… :P), wrote about a financial aid scandal… etc. etc.

Hmm, I was one of the ones who ended up accepted, but I didn't have a specific hook. I tried a lot of the hook stuff during my freshman year, and I sort of tired of it by the time I came to transfer apps.

I merely told Brown pretty straight up why I wanted to leave my current college and why Brown would be different than my current college and solve the problems I am having with my current university.

Behind that, I had recommendations from my GSIs, professors, and an associate dean backing my reason, along with giving an evaluation of character.

I suppose you could find a "hook" in my application somewhere, though I honestly don't think that was entirely what got me an acceptance.

P.S. I read your hooks, OceanNightSkies--don't you think the Brown administrators might be scared of you too? ;P
