such is the case with all schools.

Not necessarily. Rice's retention rate is one of the highest.

okay true. but i am trying to not scare her into her first year at NYU!

just got my acceptance today

Congratulations!

I'm in - don't know the chances of me actually going, but I have that option now.

Did you guys get your envelope yet? I didn't.

so umm..did anyone actually get rejected?

That's why I was asking if anyone got their acceptance envelope yet. For freshman they sent the acceptance packets priority so they got there a day before rejections.

yeah I got my acceptance letter...
i got in for spring though--trying to opt for fall semester..seeing what I can do.

maize, what is stopping you from going??

That's odd - Do you live closer to RI than I do?

Anyway, I'm probably not going to go because I just found out I'm going to have a chance to write my honors thesis next year with a (very) world famous philosopher - I was surprised he even looks at undergrad's stuff.

oh wow. thats awesome. that'll definitely get you to grad school.

i live in Maryland.

thanks so much for your help red. I actually decided a couple days ago that if i don't get into tufts, I wanna go to brandeis. I really like the idea of boston and i know for a fact that the kids at brandeis are so kind and welcoming (and that's not gaurenteed at nyu).

again, good luck!

This is irritating. I live in MA and have received nothing! Oh well.

I actually got rejected Red.

The system fails again:(

it's unfortunate.

i'll second that calipharius--rejected as well

Does anyone here who was accepted mind posting their financial situation regarding Brown? I was waitlisted, I'm told, due to my financial situation (barely any money available; parents make less than 40k a year). This dilemma is especially aggravating because I opted to apply for transfer status rather than as a freshman (I had a choice due to the fact that I only just turned 18) because it was clear, at one point, that a decision would be need-blind in either case. Because they changed their aid policy at the last minute regarding transfer applicants, I am rather stuck.

oh wow. that sucks, igarvey. maybe there's someway they can reconsider? I mean you are on the waitlist which is not a definite 'no' by any means. I definitely think its their problem and not yours so I dont think it'd be a worthless battle.

Janel--what other options do you have?

and congrats on your decision Girlygrl. Im also the biggest Boston fan EVER and completely understand. Plus, Brandeis is a really good school.

good luck everyone.

Hey, Red, I know you got your letter, but in case you didn't notice this..

There's a box on the back of the commitment card you can check off if you want to be considered for the fall semester. There's space provided for a "reason" as well. Good luck!

yes! thanks a bunch flipflopgroove. I filled it out and talked about how i have no housing at NYU which i think is a pretty legitimate reason. hopefully i can go in the fall cause that would just be completely awesome. In any case, I've decided im stoked regardless of the semester. I hope I'll see you there!
