Brown University Class of 2019 RD Applicants

good luck everyone!

I don’t know what exactly happened, but Common App glitched weirdly on me when I was submitting RIGHT before the deadline. I live on the West Coast so it was like 8:58 PM for me. My payment went through, and somehow I can still submit my common app + supplements (which I just did).

Does my application still count…? Even though on the receipt it clearly says I submitted past the deadline. The system still allowed me to, though. Everything went through and I got the receipt emails and everything.

@otter101: you know that Brown is 100% ecstatic that you applied, right? Their process isn’t meant to be a tightrope walk over a chasm. They WANT to admit you. Remember that. You’re fine.

Is it weird that nobody’s been accepted to Brown from my school in the last seven years? We’ve had plenty of kids go to other ivies…could there be a reason for this or am I reading too much into this?

Anyone else apply to Cornell, BC, or NU RD along with Brown?

@justinn76‌
I applied to Cornell’s College of Arts and Sciences.
I’m a French major.

@justinn76‌ Which NU are you talking about? Northeastern or Northwestern?

@Qwerty568 No one from my school had been accepted since 2006 until me (ED this year and in to PLME) and they turned down what appeared to be great applicants in the past 8 years, so I think it is more the individual applicants/fit and what Brown is looking for, rather than the high school. Don’t worry.

@lax1997‌ Yeah, I’m sure it’s not a big deal, it’s just kind of weird since there’s been 39 applicants. For instance, we’ve had 36 applicants in the same time frame to Dartmouth (which I know has a higher acceptance rate, but not that much higher) and eight have been accepted. Heck, we’ve had 8/41 applicants accepted to Harvard, which has a smaller acceptance rate. Just seems strange. I’m not really worried about it seeing as I most likely will not be accepted anyway.

@Hawkace Northeastern

My school’s got a couple applicants to Brown, all were deferred ED. I’ve got good stats and good leadership in my EC’s, and what i think are good essays, so hopefully I get in.

@justinn76 applied to NEU EA, got into the honors program with tons of merit aid. don’t really wanna go there all tht much though

@hagbardceline I got deferred even after being told by everyone that I was well qualified and I am legacy…and I got rejected from ED Wharton (Penn). Hoping for better results from my RD schools :smiley:

Yes, my school had 3/a lot get in to Brown over the previous 4 or 5 years. Then my year 6/9 got in.

@justinn76‌ I also applied to Northeastern EA…like hagbardceline, I don’t really want to go. It’s a bit close and too big for me. But we’ll see. I know they deferred A LOT of very qualified applicants this year. They’re known for trying to game the rankings, and they also added ED this year, which didn’t help the chances of EA applicants. I wouldn’t worry too much about it; I’m sure they’re going to take a lot of kids in RD.

Brown got more applicants than any other top school from my son’s high school this year. 13/90 students applied, next highest was Stanford with 12, Columbia with 11, H with 10, Y with 9.

Canadian here applying to Brown, only one in my school.

@manas1997‌ me too! or at least not more than 2 or 3 of 600.
though, I honestly felt so bummed out after turning in my app yesterday that I couldn’t bring myself to sleep for hours.

u from canada?

@12345n‌ I honestly don’t know I applied to Brown’s Program in Liberal Medical Education and if I get into that it may be hard to turn down!
