@IvyLeague6715 Of course it’s hard for anyone to assess your entire profile without having read the essays or knowing more information about you.

I don’t think you should be worried about whether or not you’re a competitive applicant. Clearly you’ve put in countless hours during your high school career, and that shows in the activities you’ve shared with us. However, I want you to remember that there are so many other high schoolers just as talented and capable as you are who have put in the same time and effort. You also can’t assume that your essays are different from the norm because there’s no way to predict how 30,000 other kids will answer it. If it doesn’t happen in the end, I want you to remember that there are so, so, SO many other colleges around the country that you can have an amazing experience at as well. I’m not going to deny that going to Brown isn’t an amazing privilege; it is. Going to any university is a great privilege. Regardless of whether or not you get into Brown, I challenge you to spend your time in college embracing independence and exploring whatever you’re passionate about without the pressure of “oh my god I need to do X number of hours of this or else I’ll feel underaccomplished.”

As someone who applied to college last year, I constantly got myself into the mode of quantifying my interests, and I really wish I had had someone to yell at me to stop wasting my time. I wish the best of luck to you and I hope you have a great college experience!!

@ IvyLeague6715 @littlemousling Why bother with chance me’s? Decisions come out this month. Everyone here is qualified, but most won’t get in. Ignore Brown for the next couple weeks and focus on school and other apps. Check Brown when it comes out. Good luck to all, and don’t base self-worth on admissions.

^^^ @IvyLeague6715

@Sonnafeeling you’re right. I spoke to my mom and she told me the exact same thing, that I tried my best and can’t do anything to change their decision (whatever it may be) so I should focus my energy on my other college apps. Thank you for your input!!

By the way for whoever asked before the decisions do come out at 5 pm on Dec 14. Not midnight.

who else is freaking out…

I just had my interview and it was exactly half an hour. The alumnus is a doctor so I met him at his office. He kept it informal and allowed me to ask a lot of questions, and mostly just talked about his experience at Brown rather than my credentials. Soooo nervous for the decision in 13 days.

@allima @mothtotheflame I’m super excited yet super nervous for results day! I know I can’t get my hopes up, so I’ve prepared for rejection…

at this point i really don’t think i’m gonna get in, but hopefully my essays really shine and pull me through. doubtful though :frowning:

What did you guys write your essays about?? Mine was about how freerunning (my sport) allowed me to be curious, find my voice, and find my home.

@ap012199
I wrote about my experiences quitting many things (esp sports, not my thing xD) and how losing weight and becoming vegan (as a lifestyle not just diet) allowed me to find something I can stick with and commit to. I will be honest, I have stuck with a lot more things but becoming vegan and losing weight, staying healthy etc, is something I plan on doing for the rest of my life

I’m not sure how good it was (I DID FORGET TO PUT A WORD BACK IN HAHAHA OMG) but I was proud of it and losing weight is definitely one of my biggest achievements (I’ve been overweight my whole life).

I feel like my supplements were somewhat not great/generic…? I’m not sure though. I do hold myself to ridiculously high standards so my perception of whats good might be different from yours. :stuck_out_tongue:

I wish everyone luck!!! I’m from CA (Northern California to be specific) and I can’t wait to explore once I’m in college.

Mine was about my love of history, reading historical fiction, reenacting famous historical people, and sewing period clothes as a kid. It isn’t the most fascinating topic but it is something that really defines me and I think it’s pretty unique and quirky, so hopefully Brown will like it! I was going to write about a project I did last year but I wrote a draft and hated it lol (it was also 1700 words so no way was I gonna get that down to 650).

!! Y’all! The first class of 2021 students was accepted to Brown through QuestBridge today! I’ve been looking through posts on social media about it and it makes me so so happy for them

@ricka8 that sounds cool!! Did you put your concentration down as history?

@ithinkuracontra yeah!! Where did you find posts about it?? My friend just got accepted to a top 10 through Questbridge!

@ap012199 Congrats to your friend!! And I searched hashtags and keywords through twitter, haha.
