@Cornellmom20 Ok, registered an account here just to respond to this. I can promise you that that means NOTHING. I submitted my CSS/PROFILE to Brown long before they even had my app and they requested info on IDOC. Financial aid is not connected to admissions at Brown.
@AllRightNow thank you. I was asking because Brown has never requested IDOC from us. So thinking that means there’s a rejection coming because a financial aid package comes with an acceptance but if they’ve never requested IDOC then it looks grim. They only have our CSS and fafsa. Just thinking if no IDOC request then they cannot do a financial aid package.
I just opened my IDOC and it now lists Brown as a school that is requesting my documents. That’s new. Is it good news?
@800math No. Now are you going to ask if my response means bad news?
@800math as to the question that you asked, no
Q. from a novice: Any chance that cousins, aunt and uncle count at ALL for any legacy? (I know this sounds very unlikely … but these are 1st degree cousins, one who’s still there, another just graduated … though I didn’t mention them by name in my app., only that I had cousin(s) there.
@howToDecide2017 ive heard that its usually your parents. Call brown admissions to double check.
I go a LL from Cornell today…still hoping for brown thooooo… I was deffered ED, and the wait is killing me
Also does anyone know if brown sends out LLs as generously as Cornell does? I heard they send them for PLME(?) anyone know anything about that?
@kendizzle assume you aren’t getting everything
@Cornellmom20 I don’t 100% remember for sure, but I don’t recall any request for anything to do with FA, ever. I truly agree with @AllRightNow that the two offices are completely separated, and they are just sending requests because they just need more information. If I’ve discovered anything on this college application experiences, it is to not read too much into things–it’ll make your hopes either too far up or too far down! Good luck!
@kendizzle My LL was not for PLME. I was requesting to be a Physics and Philosophy major
@kendizzle Same. Got an LL from Cornell and am absolutely thrilled… but I still want that acceptance from Brown!
Everyone, relax a bit. Many of you will enjoy admission to Brown and many will not. Please don’t let this decision define you. There are so many great schools out there what would be lucky and delighted to have you and more importantly, will develop your character and capabilities every bit as well as Brown would, even better. They may not have the brand name recognition, but in other respects they are as good as if not better than Brown and the other Ivies. I and my wife are Brown grads and have several relatives who graduated from Ivies. As good as Ivies are, there are many other schools which offer superb learning environments that in many ways are superior. We have an older child who turned down four Ivies to attend a smaller lesser known school which has benefitted him immensely. We have another child who got into one Ivy, but ended up going to a SLAC. That has been a great decision. Honestly, there are so many great schools out there from which to choose.
@andrerobertmd via email or snail mail?
Has anyone received a LL yet? There haven’t been many threads about them this year.
Hey guys,
I just checked my student portal and until yesterday, there was a table chart which indicated the lists of documents that I have submitted and now it’s gone (under “Application Data”). But it still says the sentence “Decision: Admission decisions are currently not available.” Does this mean anything? lol or does this mean that they started reviewing my application?
I hope y’all get good news from all colleges that you guys applied to!
@bonafont12 Mine looks the same… not sure what it means though. The Brown portal changes a lot before decisions are released, but let’s hope it’s good news!!
@bonafont12 the list of documents is also gone for me. it’s making me nervous omg. but let’s hope it’s good news
The list is gone for me :OO
