I just submitted my application to Brown. Major: Architecture
Any International applicants here?
There are two things that really worried me about my app:
- I didn’t submit a TOEFL score as an intl. applicant. I simply chose not to take it.
I attend a four-year high school in U.S. and have decent test scores and course load.
I do believe that I speak decent English… What’s the point? Will it hurt me, given that Brown strongly recommend it? - I actually submitted 4 teacher recs, though Brown said on their site that they don’t want that many unless each of them shows something very different. I would say I can probably take out two of the recs and they are still sufficient.
The thing is that I COULDN’T. My counselor uploads recs and I happen to have four recs from four different teachers, and Brown happens to have four slots, so he uploaded all four. And I didn’t read Brown’s FAQ about recs until Christmas Break. My counselor is on break so I can’t ask him to delete the letters on common app.
Um…
Should I email Brown about this?

I just found this thread today as well. My son spent a few weeks at Brown last summer and he likes the campus and the open curriculum. I am still a bit concerned about Providence. We travel quite a bit and I was surprised about the homeless population in Providence. That is the one drawback for me. It doesn’t bother my son so he applied. Good luck to everyone!
@RUHTRA999 Did you apply using the common app? I don’t see why your counselor would have had full control over the recommendations. You can just go to the recommenders tab and remove or assign teachers. Anyways, if you already submitted it’s too late.
If you took AP English I don’t see why not taking the TOEFL would hurt you, especially if you did all four years of high school in the US
Still no portal login info and submitted app like 10 days ago
Hey guys, just want to try to help answer your questions based on my experience last month lol. My portal login information came approximately 11 days after I submitted my app (I believe they send them out every Wed - but because it’s holiday season the admissions officers might not be working so thats maybe why a lot of people haven’t gotten them yet?). My portal did not change prior to decisions (although if you look in the ED thread a lot of people’s did). I was accepted ED.
Didn’t send my subject test in yet think I can in Feb?
