@DryMango Yep I used common app, but our recommendations and all school-related documents go through Naviance (if you have heard of it), so I cannot make changes to whatever is uploaded to the common app.
My school doesn’t offer AP classes but Dual-enrollment college classes instead. I am in College English. My test score waived the TOEFL requirements for every other college but Brown because Brown simply doesn’t say that they can waive it…
Does Brown superscore ACT or SAT by the way?
@RUHTRA999 Brown superscores the SAT and focuses on highest sub scores submitted for each section for the ACT.
@RUHTRA999 So one of my friend is attending Brown right now who is also an international student and did not even attend school in US. He never bothered to take TOEFL, considering his SAT score was exceptionally good. I am applying to Brown this year as intl student and have not taken TOEFL.
My daughter is debating about applying to Brown as her “reach” school. On paper, she should have a decent chance, (her scores, GPA, etc. are all in the range), but even if she were to get in, she probably couldn’t go (doubt she’d get any money…) Anyone willing to share their stats, scores, etc.? Curious if she has a shot or if she should even bother…
My son was accepted ED
Brown has the most holistic admission process of all the Ivy League schools and considers more than just “scores”
Brown is committed to meeting the financial need of all accepted US students
A well rounded application with revealing essays and an expressed passion to attend Brown will serve your daughter well
^Ehh I’m not so sure about aid–according to the NPC, while other Ivies will give me a net price of 30-40k a year, Brown won’t give me any aid at all. I’m still applying because I love the school, but I doubt I’m going to go there if that’s what the real financial aid packages look like.
Hey guys I got rejected ED and I just thought I should drop by and say don’t get to hopeful if your weakness is your gpa…I was told by so many people my application was perfect and that my gpa was just below the bar (I had a 3.56 unweighted) and Brown didn’t even defer me ED. They’re being really tough this year. But don’t abandon your application!! It’s always worth it to apply!! Just don’t get your heart too set on it…make sure you’re in love with at least one other school too.
Here’s the details of my application if anyone is interested: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/20190865/#Comment_20190865
(lol if you notice a reason other than my gpa for why I was denied plz lmk bc then I’d wanna edit this comment)
Anyonr got an email about an interview?
@Wendolf Have you run the Net Price Calculator? Some Ivies have surprisingly good fin aid
@ScaredofSchool Some may have. Many haven’t. It’s decentralized so the fact that some have been contacted has nothing to do with whether or not when or if you get contacted.
About to submit my app. Not feeling too confident - got deferred from MIT a few weeks ago and Brown is super competitive as well. Oh well! Good luck everyone
Submitted. My fate is sealed lmao
Hey guys! I was wondering if any of you guys got emails from Brown about confirming your application or opening an account, since I submitted mine almost a week ago and I still haven’t gotten anything yet, so I’m getting a bit worried…
Their office is closed for the holidays. My daughter submitted her application the week before the holiday and still doesn’t have access to the portal. But, she got an email from Brown saying that she would get access after the 11th and that they were closed until after the New Year. I wouldn’t worry.
I had an interview on Dec. 31 with a local alum. It was a very informal conversation.
Besides yitian9898, anyone else got an interview email yet?
A lot of my friends are getting group interviews
My daughter had her interview last week. I’m sure a lot depends on how many alumni are available to interview in your local area.
I live in the Bay Area and I still haven’t gotten an interview email… Vaguely worried, but oh well.
haven’t get contacted by an interviewer either. Should we write to Brown?
