i got a 29 on the act but im an african american woman.i just want to know if that will help my chances
@takinpelu it may depend on how many African American women have applied who have better scores, essays and extra curricular then yours
hoping legacy status will help but probs not enough. Do we know how much brown values essays compared to gpa
@balletgirl17 GPA > essays for Brown (as told to me by an admissions officer at a Brown presentation).
oh joy
What about interviews? I had an interview and, though my other interviews usually go smoothly, my Brown one was pretty disastrous :-S
I’m stressing ya’ll… I thought I had an excellent interview, great essays and teacher recs, plus I’m a latino male from Arizona interested in STEM so that’s gotta help lol… but my GPA is a wreck (~3.4). This is only because of my freshman year though, every other year I’ve had at most 3 B’s and all A’s. You guys think Brown is gunna care about my GPA a lot considering everything else?
@brokeblester yes, they will care. They’ve repeatedly said that your GPA and course rigor are the two most important components of your application. That GPA isn’t looking so good. You still have a chance, but a very slim one. Then again, everyone has a slim chance when it comes to Brown! Good luck!
Hey lets say hypothetically I get in, I dropped my french class halfway through the year but picked it up with an art class and am working extra hours as a TA. Do you think that even though I want to study math that they will rescind the acceptance? (Hypothetically)
@ScaredofSchool no, but I thought you had to notify schools when you change your curriculum…?
My school doesn’t do that lol
@ScaredofSchool Hmmm… I think you’re still supposed to notify them. The same thing happened to me when I replaced a TA position with a Psychology class. I reuploaded my transcript and edited my Common App information before I sent in all of my applications.
I sent my app in October and I dropped the class after the end of the first semester.
Just wanted to clarify, for everyone that can access https://orgsync.com/ does it show your brown email or personal email?
Brown email
If anybody sends an email to their brown email, do you get “address not found”?
That’s your responsibility, not the school’s. Brown probably will not care in this example, but basically all colleges will want to know if you’ve changed your schedule after you sent the application.
@ethanwatson4 I do.
@ethanwatson4 yes.
This webpage explains that the brown.edu identifier we have as applicants is NOT an email address. It is a Shibboleth ePPN. https://ithelp.brown.edu/kb/articles/7-about-your-brown-usernames
