Bryant versus Bentley

This is Babson College:

Total scholarship money distributed to undergrad business students through the financial aid office: $22,353,730.00

This is Bentley:

Total scholarship money distributed to undergrad business students through the financial aid office: $46,091,762.00

(Source:[Bentley University: Undergraduate Profile - BusinessWeek](<a href=“Bloomberg - Are you a robot?”>Bloomberg - Are you a robot?))

Bentley spends a much larger portion of money on financial aid while Babson spends more on faculties and programs such as maintaining their number 1 entrepreneurship program, etc.

You can’t look at the aggregate numbers/dollars…you need to look at their common data set (Section H) to see the average aid per student; Bentley has a way higher undergrad enrollment than Babson. Also, Babson has a far higher international student population so they can spread more $$ to US students.

Look, being in a MBA program, your grad school choice is more important…whichever of the 3 B’s you pick, do well. My take having looked at all 3 for UG – Babson is the best for entrepreneur – if that’s your future gig, but by its own admission (it doesn’t even show up in USNEWS rankings because it classifies itself as business speciality), it is a very focused on starting/running your own business. If that’s what you want, pick Babson.

Bentley is slightly better reputation (USNEWS/Businessweek), but Bryant has been gaining while Bentley has been falling. But assuming equal aid, Bentley will cost you $20K or so more for 4 years. Bryant has better reputation in terms of co-curricular and other opportunities, but that depends on how involved you want to be…some kids get into everything, others just want to study and party.

Both have fantastic career services and if you do well and take advantage of internships, you’ll be very marketable. Bryant does offer a bit more flexibility if you sour on hardcore business as they have more lib arts major. Both are getting big in international business; Bryant had a higher ranking in IB than Bentley, but Bentley does have the EQUIS accreditation.

Both have high grad rates, but ultimately that is up to you; Bottom line is Bryant is a better value (but that depends on the aid package), but each campus has some pros and cons you need to visit and see which is a better fit. In either case, don’t slack – get a high GPA to set yourself up for MBA down the road.

Does anyone have any update on Bryant vs. Bentley for 2012?
