<p>They sent me a letter informing me that I’d been awarded a scholarship. I live pretty close to the school so maybe I just got it before everyone else.</p>

<p>I got it today at around 4 PM. It wasn’t my official acceptance letter, but it listed the amount of merit aid I would be getting over the next four years and it began with a “Congratulations!” :)</p>

Awards: Honor Roll, Head of Year’s Commendation, Golden Award for Community Service
ECs: nothing much, just MUN, school magazine, cross country, global issues group, piano, badminton (no leadership position at all)
Work experience: worked at a law firm last summer
Essays: liked my common app (genuinely reveals an important aspect of myself, moving, succinct); why Bryn Mawr was good but not spectacular (genuine and specific)
Gender: Female
Ethnicity: Asian (from Hong Kong)</p>

<p>So BMC wasn’t my first choice, but I did show a lot of interest and even visited overnight. It’s really disappointing, considering everything I do:</p>
<p>2090 SAT
31 ACT
Year-round athlete (cross country, indoor track, outdoor track)
This year: 4 AP classes, 1 Honors class, 1 College Class (chosen from the top 10 in my class)
GPA well over a 4 (out of 4, weighted)
Club officer
Consistent community service
Commitment to dance classes (for 16 years).
My “Why BMC” was actually pretty decent, and full of conviction
Apparently my recommendations are “stellar” as well. </p>
<p>This is just…disappointing, and I know there are even more qualified waitlisted students as well. I’m waiting on NYU, GWU, and Penn, but this situation is making me feel inadequate for these colleges. At least I have other colleges to consider as well. </p>
