Hi, I’m applying to bryn mawr and the common app essay question is so hard to answer in my opinion. I don’t really know how to go about writing it. It asks how would I be able to contribute to the bryn mawr community. I started off the essay by saying which clubs I would join. I’m not sure if that’s the right way to start off. Also, it doesn’t have a word limit, and I don’t know how long it should be. How did you guys go about wiring this essay?

Bryn Mawr is HUGE on community support and traditions. The entire idea of the essay is to talk about how you would fit into this community of dedicated, passionate women, so try to focus the essay on how you feel you would benefit and be benefited by being a part of that community. It’s not so much about the clubs you will join, although you can certainly bring that up, but think of what you would bring to Bryn Mawr. I wrote about how much it would mean to me to be surrounded by women who love learning and are passionate about Bryn Mawr and its opportunities, and I also discussed how I would use BMC’s self-governing principles and focus on diversity to broaden my own mind and bring about change. Just find a few of the qualities that you love about Bryn Mawr and talk about how those qualities would affect you and vice versa. I think my essay was around a page long.

Thank you so very much for this!!!

No problem. Good luck!
