has anyone from the late January wave of RIP/AMC applicants heard back about an interview? I am getting nervous

Has anyone heard from Rochester yet?

When we will hear about the second round of the baylor/baylor interview?

How many move on from the first round of baylor interview to the second?

Heard from an hpme alumnus today that hpme interviews are a mere formality… And that by now, they’ve already decided who their chosen candidates are - based on common app essays, recommendations, senior year first term grades and other EC’s/credentials. Only if these “select” people totally screw up, do other candidates even have a shot. I’ll let you know how my interview goes next week but not overly confident.

BTW I was rejected from Pitt, GW and Case. Only interview received so far is from northwestern, still scratching my head?? Female from the east coast, SAT 2360, 800s on 3 subject tests, 4.6 wgpa, intel sts 2013 semi finalist, 300+ hrs volunteering/shadowing at hospital, 2 research publications, nih summer internship. Could it be that pitt, gw and case believe i would not consider them given my strong credentials and so decided to not invite me for an interview?? Can’t think of other reasons.

Go Ravens!

@sunitacarmen wow that really sucks having such great stats and not getting many interviews. you’ll end up at the right place though! ;)

@msxkjp: Everyone in the SBU/GW forum seems to have been rejected by SBU/GW except you. Can I get your stats. thanks.

@sunitacarmen, excellent stats and ECs.

How long you have been doing volunteering/shadowing at hospitals?

Do you have any other ECs out side of medical?

pitt just goes by numbers (SAT/ACT, SAT II and GPA) and not by ECs though. Do you have many below B in your grade? Are u in IB program? Which state are you from? ethnic group?

Not getting many interviews does not make any sense though.

You’ll end up at the better place then one didn’t call you for interviews. Good luck

@Iwannabebrown, the baylor interview notifications go out next week I believe. 15 will move on to the 2nd round. Were you there for the interview day on the 25th?

sunithacarmen - that does not sound right. why would they call 125 for interview if they have only 30-40 seats. they would then just call those 30-40 people

@klm, where r u from?

@Sunita First of all congratulations on such an outstanding high school record. You should be proud of your achievements. I am surprised at the bs/md results, but then no one knows what the selection committee is looking for. Did you have hospital/clinical experience with direct interaction with patients? This is a big factor I am told and that may be a weakness based on what you have stated. Other factor may be the essay. ‘Why MD’ is often a tough thing to write as HS school student (especially if you had a normal, healthy life). Finally, some schools will look at your credentials and will think that you are an Ivy league material - did that play an important role? No knows offcourse. Good luck with HPME - its a great program and I am certain you will make it.

HPME is an open slate - with good interview, any one can make it.

Also about Brown - there is not interview for PLME I am told. The interviews are for regular decision, but the alumni may have a say about your maturity and passion for medicine, in addition to your fit for Brown.

@sunitacarmen That is not right. Don’t feel bad. I know one who has SAT 2390, 800 for all SAT2, 4.6+gpa, plus exe. ECs was rejected by Pitt. If pitt just goes by numbers (SAT/ACT, SAT II and GPA), who will be accepted?

Have you ever visited Pitt or Case before?

i really hope i make it into umkc ba md! they only selected 70ish out of 500ish applicants that were OOS. and of the 70, they will have 10-15. man i really hope i get in! i wanted it more than anything!

How does PLME stack up again HPME, U Pitt Gap, GWU, AMC and Baylor? Would like to hear your opinion. As the only Ivy league bs/md program, is it a superior program?

@desigirl23, When is your UMKC interview?

@matrix007,

I think, they stack up as (top to bottom)
Baylor, U Pitt, HPMEM, PLME, GWU, AMC

Like to see below stack up

UM, Baylor, U Pitt, HPMEM, PLME, GW, Uconn, VCU, UMKC, Pen/Jeff, Neomed, Rochester and CW

any one?

Congratulations! It appears that you are the most successful BS/MD applicant among those from this thread. Any advice to the rest of us who are still puzzling the myth? Since your academic record seems to be at the low end among this crowd, are you confident to make it through even the BS part to compete with the elite academic achievers? Being said that, I believe what help you now will help you in the future. Go to the best program, you will be proud of yourself.

If you have to take MCAT and get over 36 and maintain a 3.7, then you might as well apply to Harvard. Why do you want to apply to UM or Neomed or Case? I do not understand the high requirements (like 3.8 gpa and 36 on MCAT) for combined programs.
