Instate. I don’t think they interview out of state in the first round of interviews.

@coquifrog, it is really good to see that fellow application or the parent congratulating the success of a student. Keep up with the right spirit. I always feel that this is a group of students who are academically ahead of the curve and they are putting themselves through the rigors and mental stress of the application procedure. This forum provides mutual support and information dissemination for each other and the parents. Any student with any success should be congratulated and any good news shared. Keep up with the right spirit and good luck to you.

@Heiditree
Congratulations to you and your daughter. Nice job. …:)

@lukingformed. Congrats on getting SBU and VCU interviews! How did you get VCU notification?

Guys I didn’t receive anything from Rutgers Newark program, is that a good thing? I got accepted to the UG and got into the honors program at New Brunswick

Anyone here applying to the BU 7yr med? It says that I am missing Recs even though they are uploaded on the Common App

I had my NJIT interview and she said that she would forward it to the medical school!

Got into the Drexel UG and Honors College with a hefty scholarship! Still have to hear from them on the Accelerated Medical School Part!

@giants1996, congrats!

My S got the supplement email notification from Albany through Union today! Now the new panic, he can’t access the supplement yet.

@midhelper, congrats! My son was rejected from Union for the AMC program today.

@IMGDAD Yeah I saw your post on the other thread. So sorry but we have been so impressed that our S already has the DO under his belt. We looked into DO and the philosophy just makes so much sense and these days it doesn’t seem to make a difference between MD/DO in hospitals etc. You guys are a done deal already! Congrats!

@Midhelper, thank you. I agree that there is really not much difference between MD or DO, if all one wants to do is to practice medicine as a specialist or as a primary care physician, although it is easier to pursue a career as a physician scientist (hence a PhD degree) if one has an MD instead of DO. My son does not like to work very hard and in fact, he is having second thoughts about even the UMKC program, after finding out that he would have to “sacrifice” his summers!

@Midhelper
Thats exciting that your son got the call for Union/AMC. Congratulations…:)

@tamtiger - thanks. Now the supplement site doesn’t work. I know others had similar trouble did they fix it automatically or did you have to contact them? We have to wait until Monday - yikes loss of 2 days.

@IMGDAD - About UMKC
I am not making any negative comments about UMKC program (I don’t know too much about it) just what a friend of mine experienced. Her daughter is in the program and not having your summers off does take its toll eventually. You also get shorter times off during thanksgiving and xmas. She was top notch in her HS and she has already been taken to the hospital 3 times for dehydration. The mom says she wished that her daughter never went to this program and just went the traditional route to have some sort of life. She also had turned down UG full rides elsewhere. Her daughter almost quit out of it just before her USMLE - I think the stress was too much. They don’t recommend it for the faint at heart. Of course this is probably an isolated story but what if that story was your child?

@Midhelper, hahaha, that is funny, and yet … not that funny.

@Midhelper, congrats!! The supplement itself isn’t that long and the basic info is already filled out for you (name, etc etc). You only have to put in the essays and EC activities so he can get cracking on those while you guys wait to fix the log in issue!

@giants1996- congrats on all the updates! For the BU SMED, did you send in the separate recs specifically for the BS/MD program? You have to send in three of them (http://www.bu.edu/admissions/files/2012/01/accelerated_eval.pdf). If you did that, and it still says that recs are missing, I would call them. The same thing happened to me. I had submitted my application mid-October, so around December 1st I called them. They actually had had it on file but hadn’t connected the “missing” rec to my online account. They put it in the system and it showed up as complete the next day. Good luck!

@Midhelper- I have the same issue. I got it on Dec 27th. I was told I can’t access it until 5 pm. When I tried to open it, I got the following error: “The deadline has expired for this request. Contact Admissions”. So, I have to wait until Monday. Good Luck!!

did anyone get anything from the rpi/amc program yet? i’m assuming the supplement’s the same for the union/amc program but i didn’t apply to that one so…

@chillychews, nothing from RPI yet. But the first prompt will be different, it will be something specific to RPI’s program.

Also, just got a letter. denied interview for SBU/GW.

@Midhelper- Is the problem with Union/Amc suppl. App resolved yet? I have not been able to reach them. Left a message. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Did anyone else have the similar problem? How was it resolved?

@GreenSage, sorry to hear about SBU/GW. You win some and you lose some. At the end of the day, I would be very happy if everyone of you get at least one offers. All of you deserve it.
