One of my top reason for applying to BU was the Bay State specialty housings available. I got my acceptance letter and want to know what is the likelihood of freshmen getting placed in one of them?

Thanks!

You have a slim chance, but it’s possible. You won’t get an apartment or a single, but yeah, I’ve heard of freshmen living on Bay State. What specialty did you apply for?

Pick a house that unpopular like the Music House. My friend and a couple other Freshman got into that house their first year. Or the Classics House. If they can’t find enough upperclassmen to fill up the house they just dump Freshman in there. The language houses fill up fast I hear.

Wow, really? I thought so too, that’s too bad.
I wanted to get into the Chinese house but guess not…
What about the management house, does it fill up fast?
What other houses are on Bay State?
How fast does the other small dorms fill up?

Thanks!

I’ve heard that less people got approved for the Management house this year than the number of spots available, which means they’ll put freshmen in there (because there’s not enough eligible upperclassmen - and a bunch of my friends who got approved won’t even be going there at all). So you def have a shot for that one. We might be housemates!

There are also non-specialty brownstones. But from what I hear, the Spanish, Chinese, and Japanese House fill out fast.

Thanks that’s great new for me! The only requirement for the management house is to be enrolled in the school of management right? Can’t wait!

Any advice for picking a meal plan?

Thanks!

Yeah, pretty much. You should also apply for Warren SMG floor as a backup.

Even if you don’t meet the requirements, they’ll still let you join if they can’t find upperclassmen to fill the spots. As for meal plans, that depends on your eating habits. The 14-Plus dining plan is good if you are willing to walk to the dining hall. That’s if you don’t have one in your dorm of course. The problem is that if you don’t use all your meals they just expire every week. But it basically gives you 2 meals a day. On the other hand, the 250 gives you a set amount of meals per semester and lots of dining points so you can buy lots of Dominos, Papa Johns, Panda Express, Starbucks, etc. Whatever you like. It’s a lot more flexible but considering the amount of meals you get, you can probably hit the dining hall only once a day and have to buy something with dining points later.
