waiting to hear Brown, Emory,Wake Forest & GW

I got accepted to CAS w/ 20k scholarship. I am international, would an appeal be worth it? Paying 50k is impossible for family.

@Mayank21 No, I don’t think so. They would’ve posted here probably.

@intstudent2021 I’m international, had a scholarship tab

@jdanger okay then I’m going to proceed with the assumption that I didn’t get one then.
God damn I really love BU. Wish I could afford it :frowning:

@iconiclife Here’s the link to the page on BU’s website. https://www.bu.edu/finaid/apply/special-circumstances/reconsideration/ You have to write a letter about why you need more aid in order to attend and fax in the documents they list. In my letter I didn’t have any significant change in my family’s income, but I made it clear that BU was by far my top choice (applied ED so they already kind of knew this), talked about how I was willing to do work study to study there, and that I’m planning to go to grad school so I can’t take on a lot of debt.

Also to the international students: BU only accepts appeal for need based financial aid, not scholarships (with those you get what you get), so if they don’t provide aid to international students they won’t reconsider your award more than likely.

@Uni1234 Oh, alright!

But why do they tell US students that they didn’t get a scholarship with a tab, yet we don’t hear anything? Sucks :frowning:

@Uni1234 Being an ED acceptee would give you more bargaining power in the appeal.

My son is international no scholarship tab

@Uni1234 What we are wondering is actually why many of us don’t have a scholarships tab. Even the people who didn’t get any scholarships seem to have that tab.

@jdanger how much scholarship did you get

Accepted, and accepted to honors college. 32 ACT, basically straight A’s, 7 AP’s, top 7% of high school class. No scholarship :frowning:

Okay so for people just coming in. This is what it’s PROBABLY like-
International students have received their scholarship information already and those who have not got scholarships cannot see the scholarships tab.
This is different for US citizens who seem to have the scholarships tab available whether or not they have been given scholarship

@Mayank21 presidential, 20k / year

@jdanger stats?

@TomSrOfBoston I know, but they asked me how to go about appealing their aid and I was just telling them what I did. And I think if it’s truly unaffordable for them they might as well try.

@intstudent2021 seems like that

@intstudent2021 @AllyssXx I agree that it’s a little weird that some international students seem to not have a scholarship tab, but I’m a US student and only got need based aid (no scholarships) and on my applicant link I only have a “Financial Assistance Decision” tab, but I’d still confirm the financial details with BU directly. Good luck!
