BU, NYU, SUNY Binghamton, Cornell, Notre Dame

I took this format off of somewhere.

The schools I am asking about are
Boston University
New York University
SUNY Binghamton
Cornell
Notre Dame College

Rigor of secondary school record - private school, its a hard school

Academic GPA - 90
Fresh = 88
Soph = 86
Junior = 92
(had health issues)

Class rank-- we don’t get that.

Senior Year: If selected, AP Bio and definitely AP Literature. Possibly Calculus or AP Calc

Recommendations - probably will be good from my science and math teachers, both love me.

SAT: I haven’t taken the real one yet, but the last practice one I took before I began SAT prep was 1210, should get atleast 1400 by the time I’m done with prep.

Extracurricular activities-- President of Art Club, Officer of Criminology Club, Creative writing club, Photography club, (there aren’t too many clubs bc most overlap)

Alumni/ae relation – I had a cousin that went to BU

State residency-- New York

Volunteer work - 250+ hours of community service,
Level of Applicant’s Interest–will be visiting BU soon, and Bing eventually.
Financial Aid – yes

I’m most interested in BU and Binghamton, the other two are probably most of a reach out of all of them.

What can I do to improve my chances for any/all of them?

BU would still be a reach and Bing a target.

The others are definitely all big reaches. Realistically you’d need your SAT to be 1500+, a higher GPA, plus leadership, awards, etc…

If you had health challenges through HS that impacted your academics, be sure your GC will mention it in their LOR.

After you have your SAT score start creating a list that mostly includes matches and safeties that are affordable for your family. You have great SUNY options so definitely look past just Binghamton. It’s great to have a couple of reaches but spend the majority of the time researching the schools that are more likely to accept you - where your stats fall in line with those for their admitted students. You can research a school’s Common Data Set, and get all that information.

PS. If you are talking about the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in Indiana, it’s the University of Notre Dame. Notre Dame College, in OH, would be a safety.

thank you
