Unsure of myself, feedback/advice appreciated :)

College admissions has been a rough experience for me. I applied to 22 colleges, and heard back from 20. So far I have been accepted to all my target and safety schools, but rejected by every reach. Here is my list and stats

-National Foreign Language Honor Society
-100hrs community service
-Molloy College Business Bootcamp

Reach
ILR at Cornell University (one of my two dream schools, getting my rejection Thursday :frowning:
Columbia University (decision coming Thursday)
Duke University (Denied)
Boston College (Denied)
University of Notre Dame (Denied, this was my other dream school)
Wake Forest University (Denied)

I understand that I may not be the best applicant ever, but I’m still praying for ILR decision on Thursday to be good. Even if I’m denied Im still blessed that I will be attending a school as good as Binghamton. However I still will love Notre Dame and Cornell. If I were to go about transferring should I retake the SAT to improve my low score along with working hard my freshmen year. Thanks

You shouldn’t think of it as being rough as you had great success and have been accepted to some great places. Your reach schools were very reachy. You took a shot, but shouldn’t feel bad you were not accepted. Congrats on your successes.

You would need to check to see if those two colleges would even consider SATs taken while you are a college student. I know of only one that does. And please go into college with an open mind rather than expecting to transfer no matter what.

You reach schools were very much reaches given your GPA and SAT. IMO you should be proud of your accomplishments, go to Binghamton (or whichever school you choose of your many fine acceptances) and have a great experience.

I never recommend going to a college with an intent of transferring. It will make it very difficult to develop friendships, immerse yourself in the college life etc. Then if the transfer doesn’t work out, you will feel stuck. If you do throw in a transfer application, do it and then put it out of your mind and immerse yourself in the school you are at. From what I read many colleges do not accept standardized tests taken as a college student as the exam is meant to be a college entrance exam (not an in-college exam) but certainly you can check with any school you are considering.

Rough? You have done extremely well, especially getting into Fordham and Bing. Your SAT score is low for your reach schools and that was probably what has stopped you bring accepted to them. Did you check the common data set for your top schools before applying? If so, you would have definitely seen that your SAT was not close enough to the 75th percentile to have a shot at acceptance. Please don’t be upset on Thursday. Assume the worst, and if you get the best, then it’s a nice bonus.
