So I’m planning to go to the open house April 13 and stay in Boston for about four days. Do any current students or anyone else have any suggestions for where to shop/visit in Boston? We have never been. Thanks!

I’ve only been to Boston a few times, but I’m enrolling at BU this fall. From past trips, I’ve found that the Cambridge area near Harvard is good for shops and has decent places to eat. The Museum of Fine Arts had a cool glass display when I went over the summer, but I’m not sure if it’s still there. The area around the school, and most of the city, is pretty nice in itself. The one place I would not recommend is Quincy Market. There’s just a large amount of people(tourists) in a small area, and truthfully you can find better places to eat/shop elsewhere. I don’t know how you’re getting there, but there’s a tram line right in front of the school that can take you pretty much anywhere. I’m sure people who live there will have better info, but I hope this helps.

Hotel depends on budget…we have stayed in The Back Bay area for two visits ( wonderful but pricey) the downtown area for another. if you are just learning about Boston, I would start by Printing out the map for the T. There is one in your acceptance packet. If you pick a hotel close to the T, you should have no problem. BU is on the green line, so that would be extra easy. The areas outside Boston, but still on the T lines, tend to be cheaper, but make sure you check Trip Advisor dot com to ensure they are good spots.

In terms of activities, there is no end to the fun things you can do. My DD spends a lot of time at JP Licks for ice cream, and likes Newbury Street, the Constitution, and the Freedom trail. Have fun!
