I live in California and I don’t know whether or not I should attend the BU Open House. My parents don’t have the time to fly down there, but if it really makes a difference to my freshman year they will find a way to attend with me. Is it worth flying down for the open house? Or is attending the orientation enough?

I live in California too and I am not attending the Open House. I am hoping the orientation will suffice.

BU has one tomorrow - my son and wife will be at it. Hopefully you can get some feedback tomorrow night/Tuesday. I’ll pass along anything I learn from them.

My husband and daughter went to the Com Open House yesterday. They enjoyed it, but it doesn’t sound essential. Most of the students who attended were trying to decide whether to attend BU or another college. I don’t think that it’s worth an expensive flight if you’ve already decided on BU. You can attend a reception in your area instead.

momjr is correct - if you’re already decided on BU, then it’s not necessary. My S is going to his three accepteds to make a final decision.

My daughter and I went to a regional one last night. It was fun, but not at all necessary. Most of the students there were trying to decide between BU and another school.

yeah, I’d save your monies for Orientation (which is a blast for parents and students). congrats on your decision :)

BTW, my S had a good and informative open house visit. Talking to various professors helped him get a better idea of what school would be like. One small tip - had a problem with the Cambridge Cab Co. overcharging to the airport. Make sure the meter’s on.
