I honestly doubt that they would use their portal messages as an indication of admission decisions. They receive thousands of applicants, it’s possible that they just don’t have the time to update every single application. Also, my stats are: 3.8 UW, 4.12W, 1460 SAT and 32 ACT. Applied for CAS.

In the past RD acceptances have come from thank you and our records indicate messages, why can’t you all just let this go?

However, because of your post, I’ll let you know that my D has a Thank you message, however, she also has a paragraph mentioning senior year grades. So, in this case, her thank you would be an acceptance according to your theory, not a denial.

The message just changed to “thank you” for me today. Maybe once they are done reviewing your application it changes to “thank you” instead of “our records indicate”?
