BU RISE Internship 2018

Hi everyone, is there a FB group for those accepted yet? Just wanted to know- accepted into biomedical engineering!

@hodgkin314 Congratulations! Might I ask what field you’re in?

Did anyone else receive a status update via email? What time did you receive it today?

@HavenR I received mines at 8:59 AM PST and I also called today; they said if you haven’t received one yet you’ll probably get one this week

I don’t know if it’s worth waiting anymore because I’m from the west coast and I need to know if I’m going soon enough so I can plan my plane tickets, and I want to make sure I go somewhere this summer

@HavenR I recieved mine ~11:30 CST

Hey!
So I was accepted at the UMass Amherst Research Intensives at one of the labs doing cancer research, but I am still waiting on a reply from this. I have two weeks to make my decision for UMass. Do you guys think I should wait?

I got accepted into the Internship track, but I’m not sure if I want to go or not. I’m debating between this camp and a local research program that’s free. Do you guys think this program is worth the money?
I agree that we should create a Facebook group. Does anyone have an idea of how to make a group without disclosing personal information on CC? I’m thinking of creating a fake email address and have everyone send their profile links to that email but I’m lazy so I’m open to other suggestions.

@IcyHurricane it depends which subject matter you’re studying for each and which one you’re more willing to do. And also how good the local program is. Which field did you get accepted for?

Has anyone not been matched yet?

@vxia12371 Me! What subject did you request?

@sammy7301 neuroscience. How about you?

Guys I just received an email saying that I’m still in the matching process and that it will continue till the end of May. It wanted me to reply to that email and say if I should remain in the matching pool or withdraw my application.

I’m not sure how worth it it would be considering it’s going to be 6 weeks off in summer. I was thinking if I could spend that time shadowing and doing research here I’d be better off. If this was super prestigious like RSI it would make sense attending but I’m not sure how much value it would add to the resume.

If I don’t get a publication, and now that Siemens is discontinued I can’t submit my project to that, all I’ll be left with is a poster. I’m not sure if this will make contribute a significant boost.

Thoughts?

I also haven’t been matched yet and I also haven’t received any further email (beyond the original you are in the matching phase email). I know others have received status update emails this week indicating they are still working on finding a match. Wondering why I haven’t? Hoping it means I’ll get a matched email soon!

@gurt567 @HavenR @vxia12371 I received an email yesterday also, saying that I am still in the matching process. I know that the program is pretty prestigious and the acceptance rate for internships is pretty low, so I will definitely go if I get in.

I received today the email indicating I’m still in the matching phase. I’m going to remain in the process.

@vxia12371 I’m in for CS/AI

@HavenR @BrownieMotion I am in engineering! I’m not sure if I’m going though because I have an offer from a local university and I would get paid (tuition for Boston is high)

What’s the difference between the internship and practicum? Do practicum students also get to do their own personal projects?

facebook group anyone?
