I’m applying to SMG as a Finance major. I got an e-mail form an admission counselor called Scott Dyer a week ago stating that I had to re-submit my College Official’s report. I submitted it via e-mail and they updated my portal stating that my application was complete. Just a few hours ago, I checked and it says my financial documentation is missing.

I don’t know whether they’re simply messing with me. Kinda annoyed but maybe it’s a good sign. I mean if they wanted to reject me, why bother knowing whether I could pay the fees right?

Yeah, I get you mate. Just sent them an e-mail at 8 a.m with the bank letter attached.
HS stats: 92 % GPA over 100. Top 5 % of my graduating class.
High school prefect, president of the Tennis Club. Soccer team captain, won the National Championship.

College GPA: 4.00 first sem, 3.68 after 6 semesters.
President of the Football club, college community service team. Student council, and pretty good recs and essays IMO. How about you?

@Yeah your GPA and EC looks like you will stand a good chance. My GPA is 3.65. Not really good though. I’m applying for SMG like you do. Well, the result will come out any day now so cross my finger.

Yes. My friend was accepted into SMG in marketing major. So, I think they are processing all application faster now. we may get the decision in recent. I cannot wait any more. Come on!! accept me!!! PLS!!!

was anyone asked to submit their spring grades? my status on the bu website is currently incomplete because they’re requesting my final grades for this semester. but my grades wont be up until the 27th of May or something. =/ so frustrating.

I got my acceptance letter last week (College of Fine Arts), and I’m 90% sure I’m attending. It was my number 1 choice, and my financial aid package was fairly decent. That’s the ONLY thing holding me back right now. It’s not as much as I hoped, but it seems doable.

A few questions for other transfer students:

Does anyone know how long it takes (after receiving your letter of acceptance) to find out how many and what credits will transfer?

I thought I read somewhere (on here?) that you register for classes at orientation, but according to what I saw on BU’s website, orientation for transfer students isn’t until the very end of August, practically right before the semester begins. Anyone have any insight on this?

Any other transfer students have luck appealing their aid? I’m tempted too - it doesn’t seem like it’d hurt to try.

I found out about some of my credits transferring a few weeks after getting my acceptance letter. They also told me I have to set up a meeting to work out some details with an advisor… but I’m assuming that might be different for everyone, since not everyone can just get to Boston before school starts. As far as registering for classes, I THINK we do that at orientation, and they save an equal amount of spots in each class for each orientation group (that way the last group doesn’t get stuck with the spots no one wants) but I also got an e-mail about some kind of course choosing thing online. As far as appealing aid, I have no idea… hope it all works out for the best and that I could be some help.

As far as registering goes, I was able to register for classes as soon as I got my login information for Student Link. I also had a meeting with the SMG transfer advisor (I got to go in person because I live pretty close to BU but they definitely recommended at least a phone call to talk about required classes). Maybe its because SMG transfers only go to the orientation right before school starts, but I would guess anybody would be able to register for classes, regardless of what school, once they have access to student link.

With credits, I found out when I got my big acceptance package from them. However, I did have to go through (and still am) an appeal process to get them to give me credits for courses they originally weren’t giving me credit for. You can always submit a syllabus and explanation for a class BU says they’re not willing to get credit for. In the end, they’re giving me all my credits, but its till kind of weird since my old school ran on the basis of 3 credits per course as opposed to BU which runs on the basis of 4 credits per course
