BU vs Baruch vs Syracuse vs St Johns

First and foremost, thanks for taking the time to open this thread.

I got rejected from my number one choice NYU Stern and I was thinking of trying to appeal to them first, and if not, worst case scenario, attend another school for one year and then applying as a transfer for regular admissions.

Here are my four choices:

BU , Baruch , and Syracuse. and also St Johns.
Baruch is a CUNY here in new york with an excellent business program.

I plan to major in Finance .I live in New York and I love the city, but I really want to get into NYU and I was wondering if attending slightly “harder” schools such as BU as compared to let’s say… a community college, would help my chances of getting accepted to NYU next year as a transfer.

I also have a couple more questions:

which of these four has the best finance program?

which of these four would most likely appeal to NYU ?

How do these four compare to each other?

Where should I go? is the best question.

I am REALLY confused about where I should go. I would like to make the best choice possible. Thanks for your time , I appreciate it !

Sorry to be the bringer of bad news, but I'm pretty sure that those rejected from Stern cannot apply to transfer in until after one year....so you'd have to wait another whole year. A friend of mine called admissions to ask them and that's apparently what he was told - that and I've heard from a number of people. There is always the possibility that I am wrong. If it's any consolation, I was rejected from Stern as well. I know very little about any of those schools so I will let those who do know respond to that.

Thank you for the quick response.

I'm pretty sure NYU stern and Tisch does not accept spring (january transfers) but I'm willing to enroll at another school for a year before applying for the Fall semester. By then I'll have completed one whole year at another school, and hopefully if I get in at NYU Stern, I would be a sophomore at stern.

sorry for the confusion and thanks again for posting.

MODERATOR'S NOTE:

Threads about choosing a college after being admitted belong in the College Search & Selection forum, not in the College Admissions Forum, naturally. Good luck at finding advice for making a suitable decision.
