Budget crisis affecting application numbers?

I was curious if anyone knew the affect the budget situation is going to have on the application numbers? I was wondering about mainly the cal states (primarily Cal Poly SLO). Also for transfer students.

i know it will for UCs, i remember reading an article about having to cut some in state admissions and increasing out of state and international admissions (cuz they pay more) idk if it was for transfers or not tho.

ya from the little I’ve been hearing it’s the same deal. I guess the UC’s are taking a bigger hit. Do you know the situation with tuition increases with the CSUs?

i watched some video on youtube of a bunch of uc reps talking to community college counselors and they were saying that although the UCs are cutting enrollment, they will not be cutting any for transfer students (or at least will try not to) mostly the cuts will go to the freshmans. Sucks for them, but a relief for me.

Well I hope thats the case. Feel bad for the freshmen too but this is kinda the last go around for us transfer guys. You think the same effect will happen with the CSU’s?

There is no reason to cut transfer admissions. Freshmen take up a vast majority of the entire applicant pool at all UC’s, so it’s natural that they would aim for that pool to cut from. Insofar as the transfer pool stays the same, cutting from there will be rare.
