Are any of your schools going through massive budget cuts. My school is broke (to the point where it can't afford tissues) and state government is talking about cutting the education budget. Anyone else in the same boat?

LOLLL WHOA YOU’RE BROKE! Do you live in California? Aka broke as a joke?
So many teachers have gotten pink slips not because they’re “bad” teachers but because their few years of teaching. (mainly 1-2 years? you’re gone.) this happened to one of the best PE teachers i’ve ever had. Our district has decided to make maaaajor cuts to sports and other extracurriculars. if student govt is cut… I wouldn’t know what to do.

my former english teacher talked about how sometimes money is wasted by reproducing books which are EXACTLY the same as the old books, just with sideline notations. i find that extremely stupid and useless because I rarely ever touch my english book (but i’m in AP o.0) and a waste of money. it has hit my school pretty badly, i’m not sure about other schools… especially privates

but yeah the budget crisis sucks. i think it hurts more for students who actually care about their education and their school. as an incoming senior, i really want my senior year to be a good one however with all these cuts, i wouldn’t be surprised if my school started asking for donations o.0

If our school couldn’t afford tissues… o.0 oh man

I actually don’t live in California, but part of the tissue issue is that my school, so far, hasn’t cut teachers or programs. But, now that it is allergy season, students are constantly going to the bathroom to use paper towels instead.

There’s also a bunch of controversy going on with school board elections. There is a large number of teaparty-like candidates who want to cut almost everything but core classes. I find their slogan, efficient education, somewhat funny. In response to this, some teachers and student parents organized a write in campaign for other candidates. It’s actually pretty interesting compared to normal politics in such a small town

Every state is going through some time of hardship. Larger population states get hit the most though. That’s what happens when you cut off revenue (i.e. tax breaks, loopholes, backroom deals, etc.). If you dont wanna raise taxes, then you must cut and cut deep. Education is always the first on the firing line.

And these teabaggers aren’t making things any easier. They can drink sewage water laced with cyanide for all I care.

Interesting statistics:
