Bulldog Days - Who's going/Random questions thread

woohoo leaving for my trip tomorrow =D I lose a day going to the East Coast, gonna spend a day with my uncle’s fam in Pennsylvania before going to Pitt on Sunday/Monday. I’ll get to Yale around 9pm on Monday. See ya there =D lol anyone got any last minute tips on “must-have” things to pack?

It’s supposed to rain and be in the 50’s on Monday - so bring appropriate clothing!
Have Fun!

A couple of tips: if you’re traveling by Amtrak, you may want to get a Student Advantage card, which gets you a 15% discount. It may be too late to get one before Monday, though, but if you are going to be traveling back and forth by train it will make sense.
Second, if parents are thinking about going to parents’ weekend, or the weekend of THE GAME, get hotel rooms soon. Already, you will not be staying in downtown New Haven, because the hotels are sold out for those weekends.

Yes, you’re right Hunt, the hotels near campus are full for October 9-11! My daughter hasn’t even decided for sure about Yale, but I thought I should try to get a hotel for Parents Weekend, since Yale is her likely choice. The closest I could find is the La Quinta on Sargent St., 1.32 miles to the campus their web-site says.

Book the LaQuinta and then call the Omni and go on their waitlist. When I called they said they often are able to get people off the waitlist. I think persistence might pay… Not sure, I am a novice too! Good Luck!

Also put your name on the waitlist for the Marriott Courtyard. D’s freshman year we got a call from them a few weeks before Parents’ Weekend and were very happy not to have to use our car and deal with parking once we got to New Haven.

I know that during Reunion weekends, when many alums are in their offsite hotels, shuttles to and fro campus are available. When inquiring at hotels, ask if they provide that service for BDD or Parent’s weekend. If so, a hotel further from campus might just be the best bet after all.

so…the final schedule came out and it is absolutely BADAZZZZ

can’t wait

So I’m going to Bulldog Days (woohoo!), but I’m wondering what to pack. I mean, I know it’s all casual, and I’ve checked out the weather, but beyond that, I don’t really have any idea what kind of clothes people wear. I love clothes and fashion and blah blah blah, so I generally dress up a fair amount. Could someone who has been at Yale for BDD tell me if people wear more cute clothes or just more comfy, practical ones? Because if everyone is going to be wearing a sweatshirt and jeans, I’ll go that route.

Also, how much room will my host have for my luggage? I’m only going to bring one bag, but I’m running the risk of it becoming a little large (because I am going to other admit weekends after Yale).

Thanks!

When is move-in weekend and Parent’s weekend?

Oh, and purplehippo: i’m with you on that. I love fashion, and I totally intend to dress very cute. Even if it rains. sooo… you can join me. :)
