I go to an SAT prep class, and every week, they have the same schedule. Mondays, I take a practice test. Tuesday is review day. Wednesday and Thursday are for quizzes and lessons. The scheduling of the classes itself is pretty rigorous. I get very burnt out from the schedule, as evidenced in my fluctuating scores.

What's worse is that the counselor tells my mom that I am making no discernible progress (or am I?) and will not reach my goal of 2300+ any time soon unless I drastically improve. That makes me really frustrated. Every other week I score 2100+, and the other weeks in between, I score 2000+. Today I self-scored my test, and I think I'm doing a lot worse from previous weeks.

Is this natural? How do I fight this kind of burnout?

YES.
Stressed out causes test grade to drop. It happened to me… And I ended up reading the whole Harry Potter series and my test grade rose A LOT

Stress dropped my ACT score a ton a while back until I pulled together.

The only way to combat stress is to understand the mistakes your making so you can actually improve and to not make a big deal out of it. Or read some books. That will help your score too and is less stressful.

Dude same story I have the same schedule! You just have to take it easily. I’m not improving to much but I’m pushing myself to do more practice and understand more about it. And doing worse is normal, it’s not like you’ll be guaranteed to improve every week it’s different for everyone

This is the time to dig out the Spice Girls and dance around like a crazy person and NOT THINK ABOUT THE SAT for as long as you can manage. Know that if worst comes to worst, you are already capable of getting a score that will get you into a decent college and I promise you that you won’t have to be a plumber or roofer when you grow up.

Feel free to PM me and whine, I know it’s therapeutic. I got REALLY stressed back in AP season and ended up burning a few french papers… and everything turned out okay. Yeah, the experience sucked, but I got through all that s**t. You can too.

^
Now, now don’t hate on plumbers… they make much, much more than the guys at McDonalds. ;)

(No, I do not aspire to be a plubmber. Also, isn’t Mario a plumber? In other words OP, you have many paths to greatness in life. Just relax and give it your all without mentally killing yourself.)

^

Hmmm…are you implying that not doing well on the SAT’s will lead you to become Mario? ;)
