Bus Taking Princeton Students to Yale Football Game Lost Its Brake and Crashed Into a Building

My son was in this bus. Parents’ worst nightmare nearly came true for us this morning…

Well, the key thing is I hope your son is OK, and my thoughts are with those hospitalized.

I am glad that your son and his classmates are ok.

My son’s okay, I believe. I think he’s still in a bus ride back to Princeton right now. He texted me saying, “it’s been a long day” and that he’s trying to catch some sleep in the bus. The only thing I know is that he has either a scratch or a small cut on his forehead. I need to look into this bus company, as I’m sure other parents and Princeton administrators are, too.

It must have been scary. Glad your son is ok.

How scary! So glad your son is OK. Hope the other that were injured are going to be OK too.

Glad your son is okay. Scary!

Thanks everyone. I’ll check with my son tomorrow and see whether he has any lingering after symptoms. All I can say is that things could have turned out deadly. Really fortunate that no one was seriously hurt, and I hope that’s the case with the driver. My son, who was sitting near him when the accident occurred, told me that the driver’s head was bleeding and so much wood planks and glasses covering him that he was afraid the driver was dead. When he realized the driver was alive, he moved the large wooden plank off of him and tried to assist him off the bus but he wasn’t able to. It took quite awhile for the firemen to extricate him. We still don’t know the extent of the driver’s injury.

Oh my gosh, glad your son is okay @TiggerDad. Glad there were no deaths. Praying for a quick recovery for all.

Well, he sure looks okay. I just came across this video while looking for more details about the accident. It’s really strange running into your own son in a media video interview in an unexpected cyber space! He never mentioned it, but that’s just like the son I know. It details the moments after the crash.

I’m glad your son is okay!

How scary Tiggerdad! Glad you could actually see how good he looks. Hope he gets some rest. Hope the driver is ok eventually.

How terrifying! I am glad your son is okay - wow. :frowning:

Glad you were able to get “eyes” on your son. As a parent, that means so much after such an incident. I’m glad all made it through the accident and hope recovery goes well for those who were injured.

Wow is that your son, @TiggerDad? Must be very relieving to see him ok and wonderful that he helped the driver.

^Yes, it sounds like your son and his friends took actions that protected and helped the driver- a brave and caring move at a time they must have been frightened and overwhelmed. You have a great kid, and you must be so relieved he is okay!

That’s something to see your kid on TV and be able to see that he’s fine - what a relief that must’ve been for you! Hope there’s no serious injuries with the students and hope that driver will be ok. Wow.

Need to check back over the next two days regarding possible neck or back injuries.

How scary! I’m glad your son is OK, and he sure is a wonderful young man!

Yes, @jym626, that was my son on that media video interview. I’m going to check with him later today to see if there are any after effect symptoms @Publisher.

I didn’t get to see him at home during the recent fall break, and I won’t get to see him during the Thanksgiving holiday, either, so it was good to see him on that video TV interview – strange to see my own son in that way under such circumstances…
