Business at WUST or Economics at Duke?

We are happy to have two great choices here and would appreciate some comments on these two options.

I am surprised with this choice - found WashU and Duke to be very different socially. Duke seemed preppy with a social focus around athletics and greek life. WashU is nothing like that in my opinion.

You need to decide the criteria that are most important to you/your student. We don’t know what they are and no one can tell you what is important to you/them.

I also think a business major and economics major can be very different.

Some examples of what was on my list - a major with neuroscience, challenging academics, ethnically diverse student body, my kind of people (I am not into sports), nice living conditions, good food.

My decision was easy because my overall feeling while visiting was that I liked WashU the most and my ratings showed the same.

It could be just the opposite for someone who has different interest and different criteria good luck.

As oncecot said, Duke’s big on greek life and the sports culture is huge. It seemed preppy with I visited too and that was a turn off. Not everyone would fit in Duke whereas WashU on the other hand is the most welcoming place ever!

With regard to programs, WashU’s Business program was ranked 4th in the nation( Business week) so that’s definitely a plus. Duke has a great econ program too. But I think you’re choice should be based on where you think you’d fit in/ be happy at.
