What is your GPA for this semester (or expected GPA)?

Here are few things that I know:

First, all you need is a 3.0 GPA to apply. (You most likely won’t get in with a 3.0 though).

The minimum GPA will depend on how many apply and what their GPA is. As long as you meet the minimum GPA, you are in. For example, last year the minimum GPA for admission was a 3.6. So everyone who had 3.6 or above got in McCombs.

I’ve recently talked to the main person who is in charge of the McCombs Internal Transfer. He said he is expecting the minimum GPA to go down this year, but do not count on it.

Lastly, this year they are only accepting 250 students. In the past it has been around 300. But in my opinion, I think a 3.6 will be enough this year because of this new +/- system. But try to get a 3.7 or above for a sure in.

Wait, you need a 3.0 to apply? Wow I thought you needed a 3.6 to even APPLY. Well unfortunately I didn’t do as well as I thought I did on my finals, so worst case scenario i’ll have a 3.2 gpa this semester, but i’m also borderline in 2 classes so they can either bump me or curve the final. So if I made a 4.0 next semester, i’d have a 3.6 or slightly higher. I know a 4.0 in a plus minus grading system is probably next to impossible, but i’m willing to give it my all to get in McCombs.

Do you know how heavily they consider your achievements in college? I’m a transfer student this year, but I was Dean’s List (aka honor roll) two semesters in a row at my previous university. I’m hoping that will weigh in my favor.

Yes a minimum GPA of 3.0 is needed to apply for internal transfer. But you will need to work really hard next semester to get a 4.0.

The decision will be based PRIMARILY on UT GPA. And they do have optional space on the application include extracurricular activities, college honors/awards, and any special circumstances that will help the admission committee reach a decision. So GPA is the MAIN thing

EDIT: This post is suppose to be below your second post, but for some reason it posted it above.
