Hello all,
Currently facing a dilemma and need some input from people with experience.
Situation is this, i've been accepted to a US Bschool, (IU-Kelley). I also have a spot in a university locally where i'm from (Singapore). If i were to head to the US to study, the ideal scenario would be for me to obtain employment after i graduate. The cost of attending a US university is easily over a 100k more than attending one in Singapore. Getting a job upon graduation in the US would be better as it pays more than in Singapore.
However, If i am unable to obtain a job in the US, i would have to return to Singapore, and compete with the pool of applicants from local universities, and get the same salary as them. As you can already tell, this does not make much sense financially! Paying so much more for university only to return and draw the same salary as local graduates?! This is my biggest concern.

In addition, i've heard that a business degree is "useless". I am not looking to spark debate over here, but i've heard that an engineering degree would also enable someone to get into banking etc. Plus prospects may be better in engineering as compared to business. Therefore, could somebody shed some light on this? How does being educated in a Bschool actually make you "stand out from the rest"?

Lastly, assuming that i only have enough money to finance either an UG degree or an MBA/MSc in the US, would you suggest that i take the bachelor's degree or master's in the US? Which would provide me with better opportunities for jobs?

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
