How hard is it to transfer to the business school once you are attending UA?

McKinneymomma, what do you mean exactly? “Transfer” by changing majors, or am I missing something? If it’s changing majors that really depends on what the student is currently majoring in if you’re worried about delaying graduation, but with a little more detail I might be able to help.

My son didn’t have the GPA to get accepted into the business school as a freshman. He wants to major in business so my question is how does he transfer to the business school? Can he transfer after his freshman year? Right now is he listed as undeclared.
Thanks

Mckinneymomma,

Sorry for the delay, I’ve been swamped lately and haven’t been on here.

That’s a bit unusual and since I don’t work in the office anymore I’m not quite sure what the details of your son’s application are so it’s more difficult to answer. I’m sending you a PM with the email address/contact info of the person that’s most likely to be able to look and see if there’s a way to have him declare business right now (or by the time he graduates HS if the GPA goes up).

As far as being undeclared and going to business after the first year- all he needs to do is tell his advisor what he wants to do (he’s aiming for business management, economics, whatever it is he is interested in) and they can make sure he’s in the right classes to ensure an on-time graduation date with his desired major. They’ll help him pick classes that fit the business core and his desired major. He may be able to “transfer” (declare his major) at the end of his first semester if they can’t do it for him now, or end of freshman year at latest.

I hope that helps a little, and I’ll send you that PM.
