Hello guys, I was just hoping to get some insight on the outlook of my chance for Fall 2017 transfer admission
College - University at Albany, SUNY
Major - Double Major in Accounting & Business Administration (Concentration in Finance)
Applying to NEU as just Business Administration.
GPA - 3.59
Major GPA - 3.7
Ethnicity - Middle Eastern
Credits - 58( by end of spring 2017) I’m sure how many will transfer
ECs - Staff assistant for my school’s Economics Department, tutored financial accounting, a part of 2 professional national organizations ISACA & ALPFA, Debate/Mock Trial team. And have completed around 50 hours of community service. Also a Beta Alpha Psi member.
Experience - My school offers a selective Co-operative program with Ernst & Young( Big 4 accounting firm) that is similar to an internship but is instead a graded course. It’s called the EY Trajectory Program, I was selected 1 of 15 out of at least a 100 applicants for the program. I will/have completed real IT risk advisory work with team members while working closely with staff from Ernst & Young. I will have a completed portfolio of the case study work I could show to admissions at NEU. My experience with this program is what inspired me to apply to NEU as a transfer. As I have really enjoyed the co-op learning experience I’ve had with EY at my current university. I plan to write about my co-op learning internship I’ve already had in my essay and detail that it’s what makes a good fit for NEU.
Financial Aid - I’m an out of state student whose household income is below $24,000. I’m also the first person in my family to attend college.
Since I’m a junior transfer so I’m not sure if I should bother sending in my high school stats which are not great at all.
HIGH SCHOOL
GPA - 2.7
SAT - 1530
Part of the reason I didn’t do so well in high school is that I had plans of joining the Marine Corps so I didn’t have much incentive for the best grades or AP courses. In 11th grade, I was diagnosed with a heart defect which made me change my plans towards college.
Is the approvement I’ve had in college worth showing my bad HS stats?
