Take into account that my essays are actually amazing, at least in my opinion and the opinion of my peers.

I'll gladly provide more information at your request.

I'll chance back if you want.

anyone? please?

I don’t want to be negative, but you probably would not have gotten in based on your HS GPA and SATs. The average student has a 3.7-4.0 which equates to a low-mid 90’s-100. SAT’s are now 1880-2080 and they are rising every year. Dont’ know what they are looking at/for in a transfer… but good luck :)

Alot depends on what school within Northeastern you have applied to, the Business School being the most difficult to get into. My son transferred to the School of Communications at Northeastern after one year of college. NEU seemed to overlook his horrid HS GPA of 2.1 when they saw he could do college level work (an A, two Bs and a C). best of luck to you.

mrshert, I would have to disagree with you in that the Business School is the most difficult to get into. Competitive, yes, but they accept a large pool of students. However, I would have to say that the Health Sciences is, and will always be, the most competitive. Universities always keep the number accepted into their health/medical schools low, and from what I know the Pharmacy School itself has only barely over 100 new incoming freshmen per year.

Anyways, nopsypoo, it all comes down to your GPA second semester and your essays. If you are struggling at a SUNY, then how is Northeastern University going to be able to look at your application and deem you acceptable. And your essay will provide additional knowledge about you as a person, so you must ace this as well. Northeastern is no longer a cake-walk… It’s becoming more and more competitive each year, and this year (from news) is going to have a huge jump as well.

Thanks for the input everyone!

BCHopefully, I understand what you’re saying, and I couldn’t agree more. I guess all I can is I was overwhelmed by being able to live by myself with minimal rules and guidance from a parent. Also, having my classes picked for me, some of which didn’t really appeal to me, might definitely have contributed to my low GPA. I am definitely trying to raise my GPA to hopefully 3.5+. Now that I have an incentive to do well, I am going to try my hardest to get at least a 3.7 on my midterm report. I firmly believe that my essay is REALLY good. I have gotten feedback from a few adults and friends, and they all agree that it is very well written.

My recommendation letter is from my Business Law professor; well known judge/attorney in the area, assigned professor of law, graduated from Cornell University and got his JD at Albany Law School.

Here’s everything that I am sending!!

Current University: SUNY Albany
College GPA: 3.12 ( 3 B+'s {Psychology, business law, philosophy}, 1 B {Exploring Oceans}, 1 B- {micro})
Teacher Recommendation from Business Law Professor

Mid-term grades (as of now):
Macro: Average: ~94 (A)
Statistics: Average: 100 (A)
Analytical Writing: 100 (A)
Sociology: No real basis, except I’ve got 100% attendance and completed extra credit work.
Computer Apps in Business: No Basis at all
First tests for all classes start around next week, my latest first exam will be at the end of Feb
averages based off of homeworks and quizzes, and although it’s not as heavily weighed as tests, it still counts
Hoping I do really well this semester; 3.7+ would be ideal
