Business

I'm thinking about being an econ minor and going to the business school. What kind of grades would I need in my first two years to get into the Business School?

You can’t go to the b-school and minor in Econ as well. Its not possible, Emory policy.

Damn, I guess I’ll have to go for a poli-sci minor instead… Also, in addition to the original question how hard is it to do well once you are at the business school? How hard are the classes?

Colleges00701, where does it say it is Emory’s policy? I was thinking of doing double major in business and Economics.(or Biz & Poli Sci like Mattleinarfan)

[Goizueta Business School - Undergraduate BBA](http://www.goizueta.emory.edu/degree/undergra_int_options.html)

you’re definitely allowed to minor in econ…

You can pair a major in the bschool with a major or minor in the college. I’m not aware of any restrictions regarding econ. The minor would not end up on your transcript/diploma anyway (they just give you a piece of paper that says you did it).

Most people who want to get into Goizueta make the cut, especially during the regular rounds. I’d shoot for a 3.4+ to make life easier, but you can get in with a 3.0 and a good application.

There is a Goizueta curve that all professors are supposed to follow which limits A’s/A-'s to 20-25% of the class. It is impossible to tell you how hard it is to do well because there are just too many variables (concentrations/professors/other students/bus aptitude/intelligence/hs prep etc etc).

what phaeth is all true, but then yes, you can just minor in it and state in your resume or job interview that you fulfilled all the requirements to receive an econ minor and history of courses you’ve taken in transcript will prove it.
i’d say it’s just better to major in econ if you can though.

Thank you, but why would you reccomend majoring in Econ and skipping business alltogether?

that’s not what i meant haha sorry for misunderstanding.
what i mean is that it’s better to major in econ if you are doing business, instead of a minor econ and business.
some econ professors are great i’m sure, but in emory undergrad, business or pre-med track is the way to go.

business or premed is the way to go but he should major, not minor, in econ???

why?

Honestly go b-school and minor in something unrelated like creative writing or a language. 4 b-school classes on top of seminars is a lot for one semester. Econ would not really give you variety but something else might.

I am minoring in something obscure and it has been very refreshing

ok phaeth i am not sure how you are not understanding, but all i am saying is that pursuing a minor if you are doing business is not a great idea because it doesn’t appear in your diploma or transcript

oh really? I didnt know that

Thanks for new, insightful information
