D is getting ready to buy her laptop for college. She wants an ibook. Is there any benefit to purchasing these thru the bookstore? Seems like financially the rebate program, etc is offered to anyone thru Apple. On MyUW it said the price requirements were matriculating student w/photo ID. Wouldn't this preclude any students not on campus yet from buying it from there? Thanks for any info. Oh, also, older D bought hers thru her college summer before freshman year and that guaranteed service and repair even after the warranty was up for 4 years. Couldn't find anything pertaining to a similar program on UW's website.

The UBooks website says that the acceptance letter is enough. http://www.bookstore.washington.edu/techshp.taf?dept=attribute&category=techhome&par=tech&ttl=teccenter
I would call them to discuss other possible benefits. And although the computer won't qualify, software purchases (as well as all other items from the regular section of the bookstore) will get a dividend /rebate at the end of the academic year. Save all receipts!

The software prices are great for students.

Thank you once again Moominmama!
