by the end of this year i will have completed ....

0 AP s.

Just an attention getter, any information about virtual high schools (online ones) and how good they are? I'm considering one if i don't get into the hs

thanks

haha. You can take an AP course online and they're really good, because they make sure to teach the material thoroughly, and they are through by AP exam time, no excuses, there aren't delays. And you can pick your own pace, if you want to work a lot one day, you can. Or if you don't want to do any of that subject one day, you don't have to. If you're good at balancing your time anc can discipline yourself, then I think it will be alright.

I haven't actually taken an online ap course with a highschool, but a different way where just have an online live tutor (communication thru email, phone, or mail) and the materials to help you (book, cd with videos, tests, quizzes)

are they good though? do they prepare one thoroughly enough do you think?

Yeah they really do, and even though Elecktrified said he took the preparatory courses before high school and no one believed him, that is actually completely possible with some online programs.
I took Alg.2 in 8th grade from Johns Hopkins. Completely legitimate, very good course, it was considered "Honors" Alg.2, so many of the concepts in Pre-Calculus were a repeat for me. But someone could have easily taken this Alg.2 course in 7th grade and then take Pre-Cal in 8th and then AP Calculus in 9th. And they have this system with English and I'm not sure about the Foreign Languages, so that may have been a stretch, but it's possible. And the course ends on 4/28 I believe, so I'm sure they cover EVERYTHING if it ends so close to AP exam time and starts around September.

ok, well, is there an actual person that teaches you?

It varies from program to program. I'm taking a virtual Calculus course (college level, not AP), and I got a series of CDs with video lectures made specifically for the program.

that's cool. if you wree confused, did you have someone to help you, gyroidfanatic?

I'm taking AP US History from UCCP and I really like it so far. Basically, we watch a bunch of short movies/video clips that illustrate the history instead of just having a lecture. The movies are a lot like the History Channel stuff. Each week there's also a quiz on the material that was covered that week, an essay (usually DBQ or FRQ), a writing assignment, and a posting on the discussion board. There's a teacher that grades everything and gives you feedback. It's pretty nice and I usually do it on the days I don't have school (Mondays and Fridays :))

which virtual sites are the best, do you think?
