For those waiting to hear who the Robert C. Byrd scholarship winners are, here is an update:

They are doing the data entry right now and expect to notify both students and their counsellors by the end of Mary.

Hang in there, good luck.

Sorry for the typo…we should know by the end of May (not the end of Mary). ooops

Texasmom: Did they say how many would be selected? Can there be more than one per school? Are there cut-off scores? S. was nominated by his H.S., but it all seems a bit of a mystery as to how the state selects the winners. Thanks for the info. :)

bringback - There will be approximately 2,300 kids selected in Texas (based on the estimated award amount of $1500 and the $3,500,000 allocated to Texas). I believe there can be more than one student chosen from each school and there is not a specific cut-off score. It is still a bit of a mystery, I called them because I saw that other states were already awarding the scholarships and I hadn’t heard anything about Texas.

Looks like we have a little more waiting to do.

I was thinking of just giving up hope on it, so thanks for the info! And yes, this scholarship is extremely mysterious. o.o

Does anyone know if the awards have been made yet?

Called today -they said sometime in mid-June
