How bad would one C affect me for my chances? My GPA is 4.38 as of now, the C was in Honor Pre Calc, a class I never got the concept of. I’m taking AP Stats next year, planning to major in Biology, thanks
One C will not have a huge impact on your chances especially if your UC GPA is 4.38? However, Biology and UCD as a whole is a competitive major and school, so make sure the rest of your application is top notch. Also as a Biology major, you will be expected to take 2-3 quarters of Calculus so make sure you review your Pre-Calc concepts if accepted to UCD or any other UC.
I’m guessing the UC GPA is not 4.38, would be next to impossible to get that even with only one C. Can you specify your unweighted GPA and your UC capped GPA?
UC Capped GPA 4.15
Unweighted 3.81
Freshman admit rates for UC GPA of 3.80-4.19 capped weighted and not major specific for 2017:
UCB: 12.6%
UCLA: 11.7%
UCSD: 38.7%
UCSB: 53.6%
UCD: 56.5%
UCI: 52.1%
UCSC: 75.7%
UCR: 90.1
UCM: 96.1%
@Gumbymom now where did that level of detail come from?
@bigfandave: Are you referring to the admit rates in post #4. They can be found on the UC Infocenter link and you can look up Freshman admits by HS GPA.

@Gumbymom Thank you…even more depressing. Just don’t know seminal events that halved admit rate from 1994-1999. Non-resident rate bumps are near-criminal, funding pensions and cost of living in CA over CA lifelong taxpayers. This explains bump in 2008-present as CalPERS didn’t realize investment returns to align with equivalent union and admin promises. Also blows a hole wide open in alleged “holistic admissions” process. A 4.0+ GPA from a consistently underperforming HS will garner favor over a 3.75 GPA from a perennial academic powerhouse.
