CA In-State for out-of-state child

Hi All,
I am new to this great Forum. I am in Florida and my son is studying his high school in a Florida public high school. I will have to move to California. But I am reluctant to my son studying half of his high school in Florida and half in CA. My question is: if only I move to CA and work there, have home etc. will my son, who would still be studying in Florida, qualify as in-state student for the CA state colleges, as my dependent child. Anyone knowledgeable, please. Thanks.

yes, if you move and live and work in California for 12 months+ prior to matriculation, your S will be eligible for instate tuition at UC.

OP…you should also look into the costs of your child staying IN Florida. You will have to pay the high school tuition for him to continue to attend a FL high school if YOU (the parents) move to another state.
