Cable TV Hookup in New Dorm Common Rooms?

Folks- I looked on the Housing site for an answer to this one but couldn't find anything, so I thought someone on here could help. The site says there is one tv cable outlet per dorm room, which only one roommate signs up and gets billed for. But in the case of New Dorm suites, will there also be a hookup in the common room? If so, does another fee have to be paid somehow? And if not, is it considered OK to run a long coax out of one of the rooms into the common room? Thanx.

You can get a splitter and just pay your roommate half of the bill or vice versa. That is what my roommate and I will have been doing for 3 years now. It was $85 for one roomie’s half for the whole year since my roommate paid me at the end of the year I remember.

You cannot steal cable from the common area. Honor etc.

There is no cable in the new dorms common room. I just ran a long coax from my room into the common room with a splitter, the RA said nothing against it, other than duct tape the cable to the floor. My roommate and I paid for it.

thanx canuk. sorry Hazel, I guess I didn’t make myself completely clear. Not looking to steal cable service from the common room, but to run it INTO the common room!

yeah i missed that intention sheepish grin good luck with that
