I moved in on sunday afternoon and when I tried to setup my tv with the cable it didnt work, I thought it was a problem with the cable so one of my suite mates let me borrow his but it didnt work either. Its weird because my room is on the bottom floor but the guy in the room next to mine has perfectly working cable. So I sent an Email to the maintainance office and they came his morning. The guy said that we dont get cable downstairs, only in the living room. Whats up with this? The schools specifically says "Internet, phone and CABLE TV in every room". And the guy next to me, on the bottom floor also, has cable. I want to be able to watch tv in my room and not have to wait for my suite mates until I can watch.

Go complain to a higher source,

Yeah when the guy tells you it wont work, just ask for his supivisor. Eventually you'll find somebody who can help you.

schools can be such stingy j a$$es that don't care about you

what school and what dorm is this?

Virginia Commonwealth University. Its in Richmond VA. Im in the Gladding Residence Center. I emailed the housing office and they said that the bedrooms arent supposed to have cable even thought there is a cable outlet here. Plus the website even says that there is cable in every room. This is a what is in my room: http://img295.imageshack.us/img295/7946/c0it.jpg

You need the IT Tech who can repair anything.......of course he works for himself and when he hears you are angry at the university he will be glad to help you out.....put the word out.

1) Find a Drill (a 1/4" bit should do the job)
2) Drill a hole to your neighbors room
3) Buy a length of coax cable, and a coax splitter
4) Hook your neighbors cable back up, and hook yours up
5) Say screw you red tape

Okay maybe this isn't the best idea, but hell it would work wouldn't it?

Right now what I has is a looong cable going from the living room to my room since my roommate didnt want wires coming out of his room. I think there is a wireless way to do this, im trying to find out how.

whats the Point of getting an IT technician.

Id say a caBle Tech would be much more worthy.

Well I got an email back from the housing lady and she said that the bedrooms arent wired for cable. THEN WHY THE HELL DO YOU LEAVE AN OUTLET AND SAY SO ON THE WEBSITE. Ugh, its just another thing that this school screws me with, last year it was making me live on the medical campus and having to take 20 minute bus ride to get to class. Then one of my professors lost my final exam and gave me an F for the class until I called him and got him to look for it. Oh and lets not forget when they made me buy a $90.00 math program to get into a class and then when I finished the program they told me they had gotten rid of that requirement.

And what institute do you attend?
