Our local newspaper columnist, Tim Chavez, had a column today devoted to our local military academy cadets. I felt compelled to share parts of it with you. The article highlighted several local cadets and an annual Christmas Ball held for local academy and ROTC cadets.

"As parents, we question decisions by our older children in picking friends, staying out late or getting things pierced or tattooed that we'd rather see left untouched. What can parents say, however, when that decision is to serve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States, and fight all our enemies foreign and domestic? .....................

Whether our children believe it or not, we question their decisions for their own welfare. But when they choose to put their welfare behind that of a whole country, all we can do is marvel with pride and pray with fervor that their choice brings them the fulfillment, joy and honor desired. "

Sorry for getting sentimental - it seems to come with the season. Merry Christmas all.
