CAFFEINE or NO caffeine?

What are your opinions on caffeine? I tried to cut down after I heard that it could contribute to anxiety attacks, but now that I'm back in school, would you recommend having some?

I know it would help when 10 page papers are assigned for the next day, etc.

New studies show that moderate caffeine consumption is healthy, especially for athletes, as it increases baseline heart rate and thus contributes to cardiopulmonary strength.

That’s great. How can I apply this to school work for after about 5pm?

I don’t know whether or not it is healthy, but in moderation I don’t see a reason why it wouldn’t be. Especially for those late nights, I am there and caffeine is currently my savior.

I always had trouble sleeping if I took any after like 3pm-- any experiences?

I don’t drink caffeine on school days, Sundays included. During the summer, I felt kind of deprived if I went a day without diet Pepsi…

I try to stray far away from energy drinks…

Well it’s up to you…do you want to be dependent on something to function properly or have no dependence on a substance.

I decided a year and a half ago that I wouldn’t consume any more caffeine (chocolate excluded haha). I average 4-5 hours of sleep per night and most days am feeling fine. Some days I regret not getting the sleep though. I don’t think caffeine is particularly harmful when used in moderation. I think energy drinks are full of chemicals, but tea has caffeine in it and that is supposed to be super good for you.

Caffeine affects everyone differently.

I find a nap works just as well as a cup of coffee for those late nights of studying…

I have caffeine only when there is a BIG assignment due and I have one day left to do it. I never consume caffeine otherwise.

I’m kind of addicted to coffee… so yeah.

Better off having a cup of coffee than energy drinks.

what defines “moderate” caffeine intake?
