Do anyone how to change school? For some reason my Grant say Cal State Long Beach. However, i will be attending at UCR instead. Anyone know how?

@imaplealot hopefully this means we will end up getting more than our original Berkeley scholarship? That would be nice haha

@JewBacca: I just called them, and they just basically take the Cal Grant and reduce your Berkeley scholarship. So we basically get the same.

:((

@2016Candles Thank you so much for replying. “If it says you’re ineligible for C that means you’ve already been disqualified for A and B. Possibly because your gpa wasn’t above the minimum, your income was over the ceiling.”

As I said, my GPA is 4.0 and my EFC is 0. Our family of four is sustained by a $15K annual income from my sister. So why would I be disqualified for A and B?

I also already SIR’d for UC Berkeley EECS.

Like @Moshe1010 said, does it have something to do with me graduating from a foreign high school?

I submitted the form again today and finally got a confirmation, my application status changed from “Pending Certification form” to “Application awaiting processing” and the giant banner at Cal Grant Main disappeared. So it looks like it was a problem with the website which has been fixed now.

@RamonaFalls Sweet, mine just worked as well. Looks as though they changed the form a little bit too

When I check on MyCalGrantInfo, my Application Status is just blank, there is nothing next to it. I submitted it on April 23rd, my GPA was verified but that is it. I did submit it after the deadline, but I was told to go ahead and do it, if I got rejected I could appeal, but my Application Status looks like this, Application Status:

That is it. Anybody know what the problem might be? Thank you.

College of Attendance: UNIV OF CA - LOS ANGELES

Application Status:

Required Applications

Apply for a Cal Grant:
FAFSA or CA Dream Application + Grade Point Average (GPA) Verification = a Cal Grant Application. You must apply by March 2nd to maximize your opportunity to receive an award.
- If you miss the March 2nd Cal Grant deadline AND you plan to attend community college in the fall, you have until September 2nd to apply.

Due to the limited number of awards and keeping in compliance with state statue, CA Dream Act applicants will not be considered for a Community College Cal Grant award
during the September 2nd competitive award cycle.

Renew a Cal Grant:
If you’ve already received a Cal Grant, you don’t need to submit a verified GPA to renew your award. You’ll just need to submit a FAFSA or CA Dream Application.
CSAC and your school will determine if you’re still eligible to receive your Cal Grant, so be sure to include your school on your FAFSA or CA Dream Application.

A check mark indicates the information has been received by the Commission.

@Tik1127 - You missed the March 2nd Deadline, but you’ll be okay for the next cycle in September. But you won’t know your status until then.

Hey random but does anyone know what Qualified - Not Awarded Means for Cal Grant A?

I got the Cal Grant B so I’m assuming they just didn’t wanna give out two awards

@imaplealot Let me just confirm: Does that mean that it doesn’t matter if I receive the Cal Grant or not, if I received the Berkeley Undergraduate Scholarship?

My total gift aid is $26,308.00.

I keep hearing some people talk about getting a “full ride,” but my estimated total UC Berkeley cost including living expenses is $34,258.00. So does this mean that some people received $35K?

If Cal Grant will just be subtracted from my Berkeley scholarship then I will still have to apply for loans to pay for other living expenses.

@Matt4200

Next cycle, meaning if I apply then, when would I see that Aid? Following semester. Because, if I am not mistaken, Fall semester starts late September. And thank you for the info.

@matt4200

I don’t think it really matters which award us trasnfers get because cal grant A and B are the same amount. The difference between the two is how the funds are allocated, housing v tuition, but for us jr lv trasnfers it doesn’t mean anything, the award amount of the exact same.

@sarahchun
“Cal Grant will just be subtracted from my Berkeley scholarship” most likely that will happen. The Berkeley scholarship might have been a temporary holder until the cal grant arrived.

@bomerr - Actually for juniors the B gives you $1472 more which is awesome! For books, housing etc. it helps lower my Cost of Attendance. But yeah I guess for the most part they’re the same.

In regards to @sarahchun 's question, they may not have initially believed she would get awarded a Cal Grant, but let’s say she was awarded that would most likely swap dollar for dollar $12,192 with a chunk of her UCB scholarship/Grant to cover the portion allocated for tuition, maybe she’ll get lucky and they’ll end up giving her a little extra but honestly all we can do is give an educated guess.

@Tik1127 - My UC starts October 2nd, if the award cycle runs in September then the funds should be processed in time by the CSAC if not you may have to pay for the 1st quarter up front and be reimbursed if awarded the Cal Grant in that Cycle I’m actually not sure how that would work but you can call them and ask what cycle you are in and the week that that is run.

Also you don’t have to reapply your application is already in for the September/October cycle.

My Cal Grant B is 3000 less than my UCI grant!!!

Does anyone know what the difference betweencal grant A and B? I qualify for cal grantA but was rewarded cal grant B.

@bolandgoo - The Cal Grant will more than likely replace only $12,192 of the UCI Grant and you will receive the rest don’t worry! If not you’ll end up getting more money because the Cal Grant will cover a big chunk of the UCI Grant and they may end up giving you the $12,192 cal Grant and 5k UCI Grant which totals more.

@refreshe18 - Cal Grant B covers tuition and books with an extra $1,472 while Cal Grant A only covers tuition.

@Matt4200, Cal Grant B isn’t extra money, it’s 1,472 that is partitioned into living expenses instead having to spent on tuition.

@math4200: (last sentence) why would they want to give me 5k lol?! Honestly, if they could add more moeny to my work study, it’d be great…I have only 1500 for work study!

@bomerr - It’s $1,472 over the award amount of the Cal Grant A to be used for books and living expenses.

Here’s from my Cal Grant portal: Total Award Amount: $13,665

That appears to be more than simply the $12,192 awarded in Cal Grant A.

@bolandgoo - Who knows?!?! Maybe they just will. Look at it this way they initially expected to give you 15k from their funding and now 12k of that is paid, so if you have additional need why not assist with that with part of that 15k that they already allocated for you?

And for work study that’s a decent amount, because the rules are you can’t exceed 20 hours per week.
