Cal Poly Regular Decision Thread 2016-2017

Accepted today- Graphic Design

Great to hear that some acceptances are still coming out! Congrats to all!

Yes! Congrats! And that is great news. Good to hear that there is another acceptance.

Accepted for Art and Design!

Think engineering acceptances are finished? Applied for ME but no decision :frowning:

Anyone hear back from Studio Art in Art & Design? Wondering if Art & Design is releasing by Concentration?

@mullinfox I was accepted in Art & Design but my concentration is Photography and Video so maybe. Good luck!

Has anyone gotten into computer science yet?

@cdnotready: 4 posts on this thread that have been accepted in computer science.

This is interesting - CP updated its admissions projection targets today:

http://www.ir.calpoly.edu/content/publications_reports/targets/index

Using the 3X multiplier estimate to get acceptance rates from target enrollment number for first time freshmen the acceptance rate for computer science is estimated at just under 9% !! BMED is at 13%. Some very tough competition for many/most of these majors. Congrats everyone!

Soooo- I’m guessing if my daughter hasn’t even been waitlisted for kinesiology at this point she can rule Cal Poly out? If so, I really wish they would roll out “not accepted” instead of prolong the misery

@Mikalakai until she gets a decision she hasn’t been ruled out. Some applicants reported being accepted into their majors as recently as today so acceptances are still coming out. Good luck to her!

Also I notice from today’s posting that CENG in total has target enrollment of 1175 out of 16781 freshmen applications for a 7% enrollment.

So, what exactly does this mean? Since the projections have come out, what can be implied? Are there going to be anymore acceptances then?

You are reading it wrong. The 7% is those who committed to Cal Poly. Cal Poly has roughly a 35% retention rate for Engineering, so about 21% were accepted.

how competitive is the biological sciences major?

If the projections are out is it safe to say all of the acceptances have been released or is the projections used in determining applicants? There seems to be no rhyme or reason to cal poly admissions…

has anyone heard back for kinesiology in state?

I doubt anything material changed in the projections. They don’t post actuals until the following year’s projections come out.

highly regret going into biological sciences after surfing those projections…wish they would just give me my rejection instead of teasing me with the “no determination”
