@Dadfan…Thank you for the warm welcome. That’s great news that your son is enjoying the school, the major and is doing well! So happy to hear that he hasn’t had a problem getting his classes too! I was a little worried about that. I also really appreciate all the advice you’ve given over the last few months. It really helped! My daughter is so thrilled to be going to Cal Poly SLO next year!
@ShadyMakar … I believe if the words “Early Decision” no longer appear on your portal that you have been deferred to Regular Decision.
it never did say Early decision although I applied early decision
@ShadyMakar: I would contact admissions to make sure that you were placed in the ED pool. It should have said Early Decision if you filled out the application properly.
@Mumstheword2, and anyone else who cares :D, the secret to getting classes is threefold. First, learn the software system (PASS & Poly Planner, I think, I just know my son learned it like the back of his hand). Second, plot out multiple flowchart options every time you sit down to book classes. Most everyone tries to conform to the Poly flowchart for their, but there are MANY possible paths through. Some require a sequence, but many times students can take upper level classes earlier without a problem. Their advisor will help with that. Third, and last, but certainly not least, it’s ok to have preferences for times and professors, but the less dodging you do, the easier it is to build a schedule and the close to on time you’ll get out. I’m a little late on this thread, but I got accepted ED! I’m beyond stoked and am majoring in animal science.

I called the office and they told me I got deferred to Regular Admission

So I’m unsure whether or not my application was early decision or not, even though I applied early decision. The application status says nothing like early decision on it but at the bottom it does say:
“Thank you for applying to Cal Poly. We have received your application. No determination has been made at this time.”
So what’s it looking like?
@aaronjn That statement means you are being considered for Regular Decision. It would say the same thing regardless of whether you were deferred from ED, or applied RD to begin with. The only way to determine which case is true is to call Admissions.

Someone help me, I have not hear back yet and of course the admissions office is closed on Wednesdays. I STILL have heard nothing yet, does anyone know in what order they alert people on their admissions status? I applied kind of late (10/26 for a 10/31 deadline) to the business school, so I’m hoping and praying that’s what’s causing the delay!!!
@rvh206: Early decisions are all out by now. Did you check your portal and does it say: “Thank you for applying to Cal Poly. We have received your application. No determination has been made at this time.” You have been deferred.
