Cal poly slo fall 2017 transfer thread

Sorry, ignore the last one.

Got accepted for information systems.

My stats:

Major: Business Admin - Information systems
Current College: MtSAC
IGETC: No; just need 3 more classes though. Most likely will be completed before admitting final transcript.
Major Prep: Will be completed before admitting final transcript at the end of Spring 2017.
GPA: currently 3.72 (will go up after current semester and so on)
ECs: Currently working 20 ~30 hours per week (major related work); had 2 other previous jobs in the past 2 years.
1 internship at a non-profit organization as an administrative assistant.
Volunteered as a caregiver, student tutor at a elementary school, sales associate, and babysitter - all in the past 6 years.

In-State: LA area

GPA is now 3.82.

But I’m not sure if I wanna go to SLO or Pomona since it’s closer to home. still debating.

Good luck to everyone!

Just got the waitlist email

@blasbcptransfer Same here

Still nothing on information systems here :frowning:

Still nothing here either :-w

Still “no determination” on my end.

They are only wanting to accept 19 transfers to that major. Out of 577 applicants.

@Prouddad70 Thank you for replying! how do you know?

@Prouddad70 is there is a way to know how many students they are taking for each major? I’m Psychology major. I did all the required classes and with 3.978 GPA and I’m waitlisted :frowning:

@Proud Dad Thank you so much!

Hey guys,

I think I’m just overthinking it but any advice would be appreciated. I got accepted on Monday and I don’t have one of my prep courses completed and I am not taking it this spring term. So when I got my acceptance my paranoia kicked in and I totally forgot if I had put the course in my “planned coursework” part of my application as I submitted it in eary November and there’s no record of the application.

So I emailed admissions and asked if they could check to see what I put as planned for the spring. I called the next day and asked and it turned out I didn’t have that course planned, so I was happy and felt relieved. That was on Tuesday.

Then today I got a reply to the email saying at the time of my email it was during the review period so no changes could be made to my application so I would have to submit a transcript and then they would see if they could still offer admission without that course.

So now I’m confused becasue I didn’t even have the course planned! Was the agent that emailed me just lazy and didn’t check which courses I had planned? Or can they actually rescind my admission because I didn’t take the course despite me not having it planned??

@proudDad70 Thanks for the 2016 Projections info! It appears all the numbers are for enrollment. Are there any stats on how many applicants are offered admittance? For example, it looks like 3163 freshmen applied for Mech Eng. And they projected 210 total Undergrads. But out of the 3163, how many were offered admittance?

@mountainroamer I’m taking a few of the desired courses online this semester, all at different community colleges, including one 500 miles north of me, and am driving 12 hours a week to take others on campus at other colleges somewhat far from me. It wasn’t easy finding all of these and figuring out who had what and when, but it was worth it to have all desired/required done and maximize my chances.

@sandimck: Rule of thumb is that they accept 3 times as many applicants than spots since not all accepted applicants will enroll. This seems to be true for Freshman but not sure about Transfers.

@plzacceptme786 I’d say the person who wrote the e-mail is likely wrong. If you didn’t put it as “planned” on your application (you can go to CSU mentor (go to apply) and you can actually see your application by the way…

I’d check your application on your own…and then call again.

@plzacceptme786 No need to call them. Just go look at your submitted application on csumentor. Earlier in this thread someone described the links to click.

For the college of engineering at least, 55% of transfers accept the offer, so multiply the enrollment rate by 1.8 to get how many they’ll offer admission to.

.

618 transfers applied for 30 spots for mechanical engineering
