Cal Poly SLO transfer Fall 2018 Food science or Industrial Technology and Packaging?

Hello,
I’m applying to SLO as food science major. However, I’m still wondering whether food science or Industrial Technology and Packaging. I could change major until January 31th because both requirements are very similar. My question is which one is a better choice?
My friend told me you should choose food science because it is easier to get into than Industrial Technology and Packaging. The reason why is it is part of the business department.(Orfalea College of Business).
I checked acceptance rate 2017.
Agriculture, Food & Environmental Sciences. Accept 330/ 823 GPA ave.3.26
Business. Accept 281/1,754 GPA 3.53
Another question is that both food science major and Industrial Technology and Packaging major are popular for many people?

Could you give me good advice for me? I’m so confused.

Current school: Palomar College
My GPA: 4.00
Nationality: International
TOEFL: I plan to take in spring

Food science: All requirements will be completed by spring 2018
Industrial Technology and Packaging: Only one class will not be completed by spring 2018 which is Physics 123

Thank you.

Cal Poly admits competitively by major. As such, the admission rates by college are meaningless. The business school might have more majors that are competitive than the Ag school, but you cannot infer IT will be a harder admit than Food Science. In fact, it probably isn’t. Neither is particularly competitive. As for which you should choose, that’s like asking do I want vanilla or chocolate ice cream. Pick the one you want to do. No one else can answer that for you.

Thank you for replying my question.
So, you mean that food science and packaging major are not difficult to get into?
How did you know neither is particularly competitive?
Thank you.

I just got cal poly target 922 people in the fall from information that you provide.
But what are you telling me? I’m sorry.
Thank you.

You can look up the expected acceptance rate using these projections (not 100% accurate) but it gives an idea of your chances.

For Food Science, they expect that 5 transfer students will enroll (NTR target) out of 22 Transfer applicants (NTR apps)
For IT and Packaging, they expect that 10 transfer students will enroll out of 20 Transfer applicants.

Odds are in your favor.

Thank you so much!
I have one more question what are these meaning?
FTF Apps
NTR Apps
FTFTarget
NTRTarget

Thank you.

I got it!!!
Thanks.
